The Condor was initially manufactured solely for show to challenge members of the New Pilots Initiative return to canyon racing, an activity scarcely occurring within the squadron after the Thargoid invasion began. However, its extreme speed motivated Ardapel to outfit a ship that could outrun a Thargoid Hunter, ships capable of reaching annoyingly fast speeds as high as 750m/s. Ardapel eventually met this goal and reached a maximum speed of 753m/s. It was later kept to participate in racing events but has been notorious for having dangerously low hull integrity, typically causing it to be immediately destroyed after crashing into planets.
