The Glowing Green Gas Giant

While I was heading to my next destination, a Comms msg came through. It was an old friend whom I met while we were defending the Betancourt Base in the Musca Dark Region PJ-P b6-1 system, Coalsack Nebula against a swarm of Thargoids. I remember it was a tight war, with endless Thargoid scouts and interceptors. Somehow he got to his knowledge that I was doing this expedition. He said he was undecided whether to come along or not. He should have seen my name in the participants list. Anyway, he asked me for a small favour, to take a couple of shots and gather some planetary data for a particular glowing green gas giant. He was working on a project and needed this valuable information. In my exploration career, I met with only one of these GGGGs. The journey was going to be quite long as I had to perform a lot of detours, and since this particular sector is filled up with nebulae, then why not. Apart from the exploration aspect, I still had to carry on with my personal mission, that is, ranking up for the Exobiology Prestige Elite rank. First stop was the NBC 6820 Nebula. Visited quite a couple of systems next to this nebula and resulted in a very good amount of Biological discoveries, some of which were Anemones and one of my favorite Bios, the Electricae Radialem variant.

Next was the Traikeou AA-A H2 nebula. I had interest in visiting one of the systems there with a black hole. The lensing effect these Black Holes produce is out of this world. The system I had to visit was Traikeou AA-A h1. But before that, I had a couple of Biologicals to scan.

This particular nebula had a lot of interesting systems that blended with it in the background. Such systems was one with a Neutron Star, and another with a ringed land-able planet. Views were spectacular.

Decided to take a small break while I admired the vastness of space.

It was time to start the long voyage to the GGGG. The system in question was Nyeajaae IT-M c9-19 (Viridian Dreams) and had to perform around fifty six jumps to arrive. Obviously this took quite a while considering my willingness to scan Biologicals on the way, Moreover I always fully FSS an undiscoverable system, and then afterwards DSS those bodies that are Terraformable. Some of these planets were located far away, some of them even at around 400kLs. Along the way, my camera snapped incredible pictures for memories to come.

A huge crater was spotted as well, and a system with a couple of stars.

Some other interesting systems including a land-able ringed planet with a thin water atmosphere, a small body orbiting a Water World, among others.

During the many systems I had visited, I also encounter Notable Stellar Phenomena sites. The Codex masters gives a handful of awards in credits for these. Apart from that these offer incredible views. I recorded Metallic Crystals as well as Gourd Mollusc.

One of the POIs enlisted by the expedition admins was the Thailio AA-A h43 (Buboes Star) system. While most Wolf-Rayet stars burn bright and hot, the Buboes Star, tucked well beneath the Orion-Cygnus Arm, is chilly, in comparison. In fact, the Buboes Star burns just 54 degrees Celcius hotter than the boiling point of water. With its purple hue, reminiscent of a Y-class dwarf, and the black Bubo-like splotches pockmarking its surface, this frigid star sits in solitude, accompanied only by a sparse asteroid belt. Yet, it serves as a stark reminder of what strange extremes can be found in the galaxy.

Last few jumps and I would have made it to the GGGG. Next was an AW and a ringed WW. I stopped for a bit admiring the WW while I had lunch. In the meantime I checked the progress of my friends. Some of them made it to the third Way Point and started posting pictures of a planet with Guardian Ruins. This got me excited, as I never imagined that the Guardians arrived this far from their sector. It was going to be an interesting plan to reach this site. I knew of an engineer that would be looking forward to put his hands on the data gathered from the Guardian Obelisks.

One more jump at last. I was quite looking forward to visit this system. I sent a Comms message to my friend and informed him that I was about to start sending him data, and loads of pictures. Situated very close to the Colonia Road waystation world of Rohini, this Glowing Green Giant is a must-see for anyone travelling the Colonia route and wanting to see some of the local scenery. It's a green-and-brown combination which Cmdr Odengard has referred to as "mint'choco", but which the explorers of Antipodean extraction are more likely to call "choc-mint". There's plenty of green to be seen from a distance, and six landable moons (two of which are in co-orbiting pairs), so there should be plenty of scope for any astrophotographers visiting this system.

After some time super-cruising around this GGGG, I decided to land on one of the land-able planets in the vicinity. From there I could gather more data to send to my friend, as well as preparing my next stop.

My friend was trilled and at the same time saddened for the fact that he couldn't make it to visit that system in person. I encouraged him to get an exploration ship one day, and start exploring these majestic systems. Searching on the database that he made available for me, I noticed that there is a number of these GGGGs scattered allover the galaxy. I look forward to discover some of these systems, and who knows, perhaps one day I'll discover one myself. Selecting Planets POIs from https://edastro.com/galmap/ will give you a list of these systems.

I spent a couple of hours there admiring the beauty of this system, and had landed to a couple of other planets there. It was time to head towards civilization, hand in Cartographic Data as well as all the Biological samples I've been collecting for quite a while. Destination was set to Rohini (Eudaemon Anchorage) - Established in Sept of 3303, this outpost is run by the Patrons of the Conflux. It features all services including a shipyard. The system also has a planetary outpost, Eudoxus Hithe.

It was good to meet up with other Commanders, and have a couple of drinks. Spent two days there before I set myself for the next destination, the expedition's next POI.
