Ranking up in Exobiology
The LS3 Expedition was starting to become more interesting due to the fact, that the distance between POIs and Waypoints was increasing. This required more jumps, and co-ordinating jumps to fuel scoop able stars was becoming essential and sometimes tedious. The next Waypoint was quite far and this entailed to travel 6,700Ly. This required 114 jumps to arrive to destination. Nevertheless, I had a whole week to make it in time for the meetup the organisers of the LS3 expedition planned for us all. Apart from the initial objective to deviate my daily routine and enjoy exploration like the good old times, I had another objective, that of ranking in Exobiology. I was rewarded by the prestige Elite III rank, and I had two more ranks to achieve something few CMDRs had. So I started jumping system after system, honking them, and FSS all the bodies. Once I my Core Observatory signalled a potential body, I DSS the planet and land over to start scanning Biologicals.
Sometimes I find planets with Geological signals, and they are full of interesting hidden gems. The gravity of such planets is higher than that of planets with Biologicals, so extra care and handling must be taken into consideration.
Those with rings orbiting the planet offer special views from their surface. In fact I found one with Vents and fumaroles. A fumarole is an opening in a planet's crust that allows gases and dissolved minerals from deep below the surface to eject into the surroundings or deposit around the sides of the openings.
I reached a system, having a 100% water atmosphere body. This included a lot of Biological plants to scan. The pinkish colour really blended in.
Proceeding towards my destination I was nearing a planetary nebula and in order to deviate a bit from the Exobiology routine, I decided to pay that system a visit. The primary star was a black hole - Pyralau IX-T e3-18. The colours blending in the lensing effect of this black hole was impressive.
A couple of jumps away was another planetary nebula - Flyue Hypae OI-S e4-10. This time a Neutron star was its primary star. Coupled with a Blue star this was a POI to choose on my way.
Heading south towards the edge of the Vulcan Gate sector I landed to numerous systems that had Biological samples. This was becoming a tedious job, and the Krait Phantom was really a workhorse with all those landings and beatings. I had to reach the next POI the expedition had organised. This however was a long way as I was still in the middle of the sector. I had to jump around 68 jumps to arrive there. Some of my friends started sending messages that they had even arrived to the Waypoint. Oh dear oh dear, that's another long way to go after this POI.
I have finally arrived to the POI I had set for my next destination. Fojea HG-X d1-1 (11 In A Row) - This system has 11 primary stars orbiting each other in an intricate 6 + 5 configuration. Prior to the discovery of this system, the largest number of such stars were 9. This system is thus a record breaker by some margin and the only one of its kind discovered at this time (source).
As I arrived in this system, there was still TFC Candle in the Void fleet carrier and took the opportunity to relax a bit and hand in cartographic data as well as Exobiology samples.
