Unexpected Circumstances

So, I've made it at last to the far West. There are no more stars to gaze at. If you look at the opposite side, you can see the whole Milky Way galaxy, the whole stretch of it. This wasn't the first time I've seen the whole galaxy that way. It reminded me for when I had visited Beagle Point (DSSA Distant Worlds 'Endeavour') and Oevasy SG-Y d0 (Semotus Beacon & Salomé's Reach). Another system I visited back in the old exploration days was Hyphiemoe YK-P d5-0 which is currently the most distant system I have been. That is 80,012.66Ly away.

It was quite an accomplishment to arrive at Waypoint 9. I was still waiting for other CMDRs to arrive. There was a leeway of a couple of weeks to wait for the others to make it. This part was not for the faint hearted as it requires you do well your calculations. I only used Basic synthesis since I had a minimum jump range of 70Ly, however other CMDRs weren't so much fortunate as there were some who had far less than that. You would often make it using Standard and Premium synthesis, or else wait for alternative carriers and hitch a ride.

Having just made it to Waypoint 9, and settled my ship for repairs and maintenance, I decided to book an apartment on the TFCS Castle Rock carrier. Usually I spend time in my ship's quarters but since it was undergoing repairs, booking an apartment would be always ideal. I had met with a couple of friends on that carrier so we sat in the bar and tossed a couple of drinks to celebrate our accomplishment. I met with the carrier's owner and we discussed several things, however my mind was utilizing only the short term memory as I forgot what he told me. I headed back to my apartment later on that night and slept for a couple of hours.

The next day, the carrier's announcement woke me up. I didn't quite heard that well what it was saying. Usually carrier announcements occur either when there's an emergency or when it hyper-jumped to another system. I quickly got out of bed and logged in on my computer to check what happened. Little did I know that during the night, the carrier was jumping to a system called Cygni X-3 - this system is one of the stronger binary X-ray sources in the sky. Classified as a microquasar, it is believed to be a compact object in a binary system which is pulling in a stream of gas from an ordinary star companion. It is observed in X rays, gamma rays, infrared, and radio, with an orbital periodicity of approximately 4.8 h, among the shortest known at the time of its discovery. Due to its remote location the system is impossible to reach by any exploration ship. In fact, when I looked from the window I noticed a different system from the one at Waypoint 9

This system has two Black Holes orbiting each other as primary stars and a Class B star.

I disembarked from the carrier and head towards Cygni X-3 A, one of the Black Holes. I got as near as possible to check it out.

Visited a couple of stars within the system and met with another CMDR who was onboard the carrier.

We spent two days there checking out the planets. Unfortunately there wasn't any land-able planets. Once we were all happy with the exploration of this system, the carrier jumped back to Waypoint 9. In the meantime TFC Candle in the Void carrier had just arrived in the system. On this carrier I've got other ships docked. Since the distances between some of the systems exceeded the jump range on my Krait Phantom, it was the time to swap to my Anaconda. This had a jump range of 84.36Ly which was way enough to jump to any of the nearby systems. Once swapped ships I started on my way to visit the nearby systems and take the opportunity to do some Exobiology.

I found a system with a ringed planet that had Notable Stellar Phenomena. This was the first time I encountered this type which was K07-Type Anomaly. They can damage ships that approach too closely or come into direct contact with them.

Clearly this type of Anomaly damages your ship once in contact.

I left this system and head back to the carrier to meet up with all the other Commanders.
