Long Voyage Ahead - Pt 1

After a couple of drinks with my friends, the time was up for us to continue with our expedition. Meetup Location was set up at Geological Site 19 on Planetary Body 3A in the Cyuefai QP-K B49-0 System. A lot of commanders were turning in for this meetup while others had proceeded with the voyage ahead. Indeed Waypoint 12 was far away. For many of those who started exploration, this would definitely test their endurance. Two weeks were scheduled to get there.

During this voyage I had an objective lurking in my head. Ever since I started this expedition and got in to Exobiology, I made it a point to get to the maximum Elite rank. I was already awarded by the 4th Elite Stars rank, and only one hurdle remained. With lack of systems to explore, exobiology got in a pending state. To make things worse, there were long distances and to scan all those Biologicals required a lot of time. However this time, I've got a leeway of two weeks to get to the next waypoint. This also meant that I'm going to jump to a lot of systems, with plenty of opportunities to discover and scan biologicals.

So the hunt for biologicals was on. I scanned each and every system for those atmospheric landable planets and gathered the high valued biologicals. I had time, there wasn't any problem this time. I've got a 70Ly jump range ship, and I was only 154 jumps away from Waypoint 12. I only had to be careful not to spoil it at the end, as the more I scanned, the more I was worried something gonna happen and ruin the day.

Found A system with a particular planet I landed on with Crystal Shards that reminded me those other systems near the bubble from where I saw these type of biologicals for the first time. The ones near the bubble, have grade 5 raw materials. I visited them last time, before I started the LS3 expedition. Wanted to stock on valuable jumponium materials as otherwise I would have missed one of the highlights of this expedition.

I was taking a note of the species I was collecting and their approximate value. I was hoping to have enough to make it to my final rank. This would have been the cherry on the cake for this expedition. My objective would have been finally fulfilled, so I was quite looking forward for that particular moment. In the meantime I found a system with a couple of ringed gas giants and the views were spectacular.

I was a couple of jumps away from Waypoint 12 and all the systems I was jumping to had landable atmospheric planets with biologicals and as they say, the more the merrier. I had a feeling that a particular Stratum Tectonicas was what I needed to close the Exobiologist rank chapter.

There it was, the final jump, Waypoint 12. The system is Myoidu HS-S d4-3 (Little Trojan) - The 2nd planet shares the orbit with planet 1. That wouldn't be unusual if it were a binary planetary system. Instead planet 2 is on the lagrange point L4 or L5 of planet 1 which makes it a trojan. The fact that their orbits should be stable and planet 2 is in fact on L4 or L5 was proven by flying next to planet 1 and checking the distance to planet 2. The small planet on L4/L5, the star and the large planet form an equilateral triangle which is easy to validate. The measured distance from planet 1 to 2 was within acceptable range to fulfill this requirement.

I simply headed to one of the expedition's fleet carrier for supplies and for a well deserved brake. This was the longest voyage I've got in this expedition between waypoints. It wasn't easy as it took longer than usual to arrive to my destination. Apart from that I landed on hundreds of planets to collect biologicals. As I was headed in, I met a couple of friends wishing me best of luck. Was pleased and without further ado I visited the Vista Genomics. Handed in all my data and to my surprise I received a communication message from the Pilots' Federation. I was awarded with the Prestige Elite V rank.

It was time to celebrate. Getting Elite V in all categories was not an easy task. I can now dedicate more time to explore systems in general and get to systems that haven't yet been discovered.
