A rocky start to my deep space expedition...

Commander's Log: June 6 3302I departed Hai Chan on June 3rd and began making my way to Sag A. About 1,200ly out I attempted to land on a high metal world prospecting mats for an FSD boost. The landing did not go so hot. I overcompensated for the high g and came in too hard causing significant damage to my hull integrity. 25% hull remaining for another 23,000ly of travel...I don't think so. I was disappointed but the decision to turn back was a no-brainer. Things took a fortuitous turn upon my return to the bubble. I received a message from a reclusive Engineer by the name of Felicity Farseer. She's paying top dollar for exploration data as well as offering unique upgrades to FSD drives. I was interested in heading out into the black anyway...might as well get some upgrades for the time I'm out there. My AspEx, Good Fortune, has a great jump range already but my Python, Serpentis, could certainly use an upgrade. So I made some minor outfitting adjustments to Good Fortune and headed out again. I departed Farseer's base on June 5th and went straight down to the bottom of the galactic plane. I am now making my way to the Statue of Liberty Nebula. I'm not sure where I'll head from there but at some point I will turn toward Sag A. Maybe I'll connect with the Deep World's Expedition next month. All I know is that I don't intend to return to the bubble of civilized space anytime soon.
As I write this, I'm about 3,500ly from the Statue of Liberty Nebula, farther than I've ever been from Sol, and fully immersed in uncharted space. This is the life. Bound by no one. Flying my own route according to my own schedule. The views are breathless, the adventure is abundant, and the allure of the great unknown is seemingly endless.
