The formation of council is upon us. Formats are unclear, discourse is chaotic. Rules are taking shape. My energy is depleting, so this message may be edited at a later date. I believe it's of the utmost importance to draft our constitutions fairly, and publicly. To that end I initiated the topic with the following message:I'd like to propose a meta-goal with an example of a solution.
We should have our constitutions, rules, laws, and agreements codified into record. This means, formally, each term is defined. Starting with an agreed set of terms from Elite itself, then moving to our own terms. Each member of the council should have power proportional to their level to edit the terms, and no term may be edited in isolation. Members are in agreement of these terms at all times, otherwise a conflict is declared. The scope of these terms is restricted to a single channel with a single message acting as the single source of truth. Ideally, members of the council would be able to version control this message, however I realize this may be optimistic.
This is merely an example of a unifying construct, however I feel, in order to operate clearly, something of this form will be required.
In the coming weeks, I hope to see this crystallize into something where progress is preserved. Both in my life, and in the organizations of many.
