Begin Log
I was told that it'd help me stay focussed if I kept a log out here in the black. Told that I'd help me keep a record of any interesting planets or natural formation that I find but I've yet to find anything worth actually keeping note of. I've seen the same planets with the same colours as the last. At least the stars can get interesting. I decided early on that I'd use LGM-1 as a midway point, or at least a place to plan my next route and it's the most interesting thing I've seen yet out here. Interesting in the sense that a thousand years ago, people actually thought this star was an alien message. To think our first real contact would be with the thargoids. But now that I'm this far out, everything feel so small. My hud tells me that over in that general direction is where humanity was born, crawled, walked, then flew but all I see is black and the small twinkle of the other stars. It's like when I left New America for the first time. I was leaving some friend, my teachers, and my old home. But once I made it to orbit, I couldn't believe how small it was. I lived for so many years on that small spec. It felt like nothing really mattered there, that everything was so insignificant when you compare my experiences to the billions of others that lie beyond of my tiny home. Maybe that's why so many pilots don't come back. Is it that they realize how insignificant all of the bubble's problems are on the galactic scale that they don't want to deal with it again?
I catch myself wondering if there's something else out here waiting to be found. Some other intelligent civilization out here that's waiting for their time to explore the stars. There are already hundreds of millions of other people out here. What if they make the first contact? Will we help them find there ways out here and would they join us as fellow travelers? Maybe I think too much. But I've work to do. Perhaps I'll head towards Colonia instead of returning to the bubble. Remora don't care either way. They only care about their cut after the mission's done.
