Another day as a miner.
27 Jan 2021Sei Kitsune
I sit in my cabin aboard the my mining ship the 'Kate Rice', named after some long dead prospector from Earths far distant path, looking at a data pad, ensuring everything is in order before I set out. Mining Lasers have been refitted into place after some much needed preventative maintenance, Collector limpet modules, prospector limpet module, tons of cargo space, and the refinery. Waiting on loading crews to finish filling the cargo with limpets, and doing my pre-flight inspections of all the major systems. Refitting this ship has taken several days, but nothing beats mining in something bigger than an old, clapped out Diamondback. My data pad dings as a new notification has come in, cargo is secured and load teams have disembarked. My flight plan has been logged with Jameson Memorial, heading to Col 285 Sector WP-E c12-17 in search of Painite. It is a fairly close system, only ~143 LY from Shinrarta Dezhra, but that could also mean it is a fairly busy system so close and right in the middle of the bubble. hopefully no pirates think me a prize to capture, though when I first arrive, joke will be on them with a hold full of limpets. Pre-flights done on all major systems, I secure my data pad in its place in my cabin, and head towards the bridge to get strapped in, and run my start-up checklist. Strapped in and running through the checklist and I find my first issue, "Well, crap" I mutter when I get to checking my fire groups "Damn techs didn't bother to even try to group these! That is another 30 minutes of time wasted." Completing organizing my fire groups, I finish getting through system startup, and plot my course, a leisurely 8 jumps, not terrible in this ship, even without the Guardian FSD booster. "No time to waste I guess. Jameson Memorial Tower! Kate Rice requesting permission to depart!" waiting for the tower to reply, thinking that my flight plan might have been lost in the ether of computers I finally get a response "Permission Granted, please be aware of heavy traffic in the station. Good journey, Commander!"
