*faint static followed by a click*Audiolog Number One. Commander Jack Peterson, of the Nighthawk here. Currently docked at Farseer Inc, in Deciat awaiting further instructions from my wingmate. He had said something to me about mining low-temp diamonds.....apparently there's good money to be had. Never mined a day in my life, more of a courier or explorer, depending on where the money is.
Speaking of money, Obambivas United Industries keeps asking me to make a run to Colonia. Millions of credits to be made just to take data. Not really sure if I want to make 21,000 light years worth of jumps just for a couple mil. I can make that in a couple days staying local. Don't get me wrong, my Asp Explorer here can make it if I really wanted to, especially if I stick to the Colonia Highway. Still though, it's quickly becoming a bucket-list item, along with getting a Hutton Mug.
If my father were still around, I'd be his first-mate, and he'd be the one behind the controls. He never wanted me to become a pilot. Told me it was too dangerous. Between pirates and all the political BS going on, he always thought I'd be safest on a station or planet-side. Always told me he was gonna die in space......and sadly he was right. Came out of hyperspace into GD215 by the neutron star in 3295, and his big ol Type-9 "Magellan" couldn't break out of the gravity well. OUI is still investigating it all these years later, simply because he was one of their top pilots, and they can't conclusively decide if it was a bad drop or he intentionally ran into the gravity well. Apparently he was carrying some classified cargo....they won't even tell me anything about his last trip aside from the fact that it abruptly ended in GD215. Sometimes I question the motives behind OUI and the "investigation" that they've done. I hope to someday find the truth.
Pad officer is giving me the thumbs-up through the window, looks like I'm fueled and ready to go. Time to hit the skies to Borann. Heard it's a rough time out there with the influx of miners getting those low-temp diamonds. Time to see if I have what it takes as a miner. Wish me luck.
Peterson out.
