Captain's Log 26:01:3307 (Catch-Up)

It's been a while since I've had to write any of these. I've had my hands full with a great many different things, of course, so I never really had the time to. That being said, I probably should have made a bit more of an attempt. There has been a lot that's happened lately, unfortunately.I suppose it started with the attack of the NMLA on the Empire. I took the Nightengale in to rescue as many civilians as I could, which was time consuming let me tell you. I very nearly lost my poor Python with the various explosions going on with all of the heavy damage. I didn't know about Liz Ryder's engineering job at the time, but I do remember being a little dumbfounded as to how they even got a hold of Thargoid technology. To my tinfoil hat regret, I do admit to thinking they might have even found a way to communicate with the buggers.
Then came the witchhunt for the NMLA that came with the Empire. I supported them at first, I'll admit, but they definitely started over reaching fast. Attacking Liz Ryder for one, to blanket persecution then attacking the Federation? I left the situation with the engineer alone of course, as I didn't know anything about what was happening. She is aligned with the local mafia, so I had suspicions, but I did end up stepping in when they started hunting the megaships. I ended up commanding Yuna to jump the Auriga into the area to assist in the evacuations. All of that came to a head when the Empire invaded Federal space. I joined the Federation temporarily in that skirmish, and ended up with the 'honorary' rank of Admiral for my services.
This of course gives me absolutely no power in the Federation. It just lets me buy some military grade gear, which honestly I'm fine with. Yuna and Ida tease me enough by calling me Admiral at every opportunity.
I've spent most of my time afterwards working on helping the Marlinists get settled in. Defending shipping lanes, supplying materials and food and the like; I did jump the Auriga off to help rescue civilians in the Coalsack Nebula from the Thargoid attacks of course. That being said though, a lot of my time has been spent outfitting my new Corvette (I've named it the Leviathan) and working with the various engineers I'd been in touch with. This place called Inara does sound like an interesting place though. I do wonder if anything new will show up though. The Adamastor was certainly a fun surprise. I suppose we'll see what the galaxy has in store for me.
Now to figure out where this distress call is coming from...
