Chillin' with Broo

I spent some time speaking to Broo the other day about Lasers. Broo wanted to know why the Vortex Continuum was spending so much on lasers to fight the Goids. I explained that it helps get the shields down on the bugs faster. Broo suggested that, instead of focusing on Goid shields, that I spend more effort on cooling and put the DPS into the Engineered AX Shard cannon instead.I was aghast! How could anyone suggest such an idea? Broo said, "Look kid, the shields will come down in due time. You need the DPS on the petals and hull after the shields are down to prevent the Goids from getting another attack run on your ship".
I looked at him puzzled for a moment, and then decided to give it a try. I changed my guns to four EAX shard cannons, and only one 3c laser for cooling. I also changed my power distributor to weapons focused and with super-conduits to give me more boom boom on the shard cannons. It is imperative with this build that you have heat sinks to fire just before you unload an entire volley of AX fire into the Goid.
The results so far have been amazing. For solo use, it's very easy to kill a cyclops on the second petal. I have gotten one on the first petal but I am pretty sure that was because of help from other AX pilots. If you want to give this type of build a try, check out my Xenocaust build on Inara.
