Humanity Comes Together for Sol's Safety

21 Dec 2024Starry Haze
This log entry feels heavy, even for someone like me who tends to avoid the darker corners of the galaxy. The recent Thargoid attacks, culminating in the assault on Sol itself, have left me shaken. While I haven't personally faced a Thargoid, my experiences have been limited to the information available within my Codex. Up until now, the idea of firing on one felt… wrong. An attack on something we project human reasoning upon, something shrouded in mystery.

But Sol is different. It's more than just a star system, more than just Federation territory. It's home, a constant even as I explore the vastness of space. It's the cradle of humanity, a place where we learned and grew through countless trials. This attack struck a deep chord – a violation of our shared history.

The galaxy shuddered as eight Titans descended upon our inhabited space, casting long, ominous shadows across star systems. The air crackled with fear and anticipation as the invaders approached, a chilling reminder of the fragility of our civilization. While many commanders pledge allegiance to various factions, our ultimate loyalty lies with humanity. We stand shoulder-to-shoulder with countless others, a testament to our unwavering spirit. In the end, we succeeded in defeating the final Titan Cocijo, but at the cost of countless lives lost.

However, the victory feels hollow. The Titan gravesites now emit a chilling signal, a decoded image depicting eight Thargoid vessels – believed to be the fallen Titans – flanking rows of humans. Two, four, and eight… the meaning behind this image remains a mystery, but for me, it's a stark warning.
This war is far from over.

The recent events have reshaped my perspective. Sol's attack was a brutal reminder of the stakes involved, the fragility of what we hold dear. I may not have actively fought in the battle, but the echoes of humanity's resilience resonate within me.

Now that I'm back at Whitson Hub, the mood is somber. The usual camaraderie is tempered with a newfound sense of urgency. Many are eager to contribute, to learn combat techniques, to prepare for the inevitable. This shared experience has forged a stronger bond among us, a realization that our fates are intertwined.

My journey as an explorer continues, but it takes on a new urgency now. The galaxy holds countless wonders, yes, but it also harbors dangers we must face together. I'll continue to explore, to gather knowledge, but I'll also be prepared to defend what matters most.
The fight for humanity has ignited a fire within me. The question remains – what role will I play in the battles to come?  Only time will tell, but one thing is certain: I won't stand idly by when our future hangs in the balance.
