The Witchspace Willies

Commanders Log, June 2nd, 3307. Testing, testing.
Huh.... neat. The things you find when you actually read the manual. Well, here goes.... I guess.
I'm stuck.
That last patch to the OS seems to have wiped my security clearance. Granted, I had..... tweaked....... the protocols. Suffice to say, I can't access any of the flight controls, and I can't get out of the cockpit. I knew I wrote that code to carry over through updates, I never even thought to account for the Pilots Fed sending out a faulty patch and locking me out of my own ship. Or, inside rather. So I'm waiting for a guy I met while I was skulking around Black Hide a couple weeks back. He helped me..... bypass....... some code before, and I can walk him through what I've got goin on. He said he would be here in a couple hours, "I'm only 6 jumps away!"
That was at 22:00.
Two days ago.
I get the feeling someone caught up with him, he did seem to be a avoiding the better lit portions of the bar last time I saw him. That's what I get for hanging out with "scavvers". Licensed salvage operators don't usually fly DBX's kitted to run so cold the hull has a near permanent coating of frost. Or look over their shoulder 15 times a second.
I guess I'll call the Pilots Fed and have them send a tech out, and bite the bullet on the fines for modding the OS. It's probably gonna be another 8 hours before they get someone out to me.
I wish the pilot's seat reclined.......
My flight instructor told me to keep a log book, said it would help stave off what he called "the witchspace willies." Never really thought about it until now. At the time I thought he was nuts, but yesterday I thought I heard a whisper. Ethereal, and faint. Impossible to place, but persistent. I turned on some galnet article to drown it out. I thought back to my instructor. "Never trust what you hear." I thought he was talking about the "free 'Conda at Hutton" shtick, but now I'm not so sure.
So here I am. I figured it's better to talk to a logbook than the COVAS. Carina sounds thoughtful, but she only ever wants to talk shop.
Time to pop that proverbial flare. Note to self, delete all of the security firmware and start from scratch once you've got this bucket operational again.
CMDR Sporkithus, signing off.
