The mission to acquire meta alloys went over well and a new exploration ship has been commissioned. A very capable Python joins my fleet. On the journey through deep space performing minor system scans and the occasional full spectrum scan when bodies number over 20, I came across an unmapped planet. When I sent a surface probe and received the data back from it, Pilots Federation systems informed me I will receive an accolade for this discovery. From this point forward all universal cartographic systems will show this as first mapped by me. It sure seems like an achievement to behold but there is a vastness that belittles any claim over it in space. A wondrous feeling of chaos and powerlessness floating through the universe. This was but the first small shake in the not so smooth trip ahead of me.

Forward a few days along in the exploration journey, approximately 871ly away from Sol, I stumble upon some strange readings from a surface probe. Structures of some kind. Further inspection down on the surface was something I never thought I would get to see. Near completely intact Guardian ruins. The excitement soon faded as I started to feel a rumble in my SRV. Sentinels. I should have known. The stories I've heard about ruins like this usually involve a sentinel or few. Some deft maneuvers and turret work laid waste to these sentinels and I salvaged all that I could. Same goes for whatever else I could find at the ruins. The thing is, though, this wasn't the only thing waiting to be found out here. Pillars of strange technology rose from the ground all around the site and as far as I could tell were for some sort of energy transfer. A few failed attempts with the maverick suit tools and finally I had the bright idea to use the SRV's turret. They are lasers after all. Sure enough the crystal in the pillar cackled and absorbed the blasts and rose even further. A booming hum rings out as if something changed. I hear more pillars rising so I continue to activate them in this manner until I've done all I can find. Near the last pillar close to the sites center, sits what appears to be an altar. A slot in the ground in front of it very similar to some of the other lighted crystals nearby. Bringing one with the SRV to the slot, I press the crystal into it until it sits flush and then the altar begins to open. It was more than I ever dreamed. A large sphere of blue sparkling energy seemingly thinking for itself and alive rises up from the altar, it hovers in the air as if waiting for something. I am in awe of the sphere but I am a man of seizing the moment, so I scan the object. The scans yield data of some kind, maybe schematics, or instructions. It is unclear at this time. I will have the data appraised upon arrival back in the bubble. The exploration mission is nearly complete and I have almost all the system scans I need per Fleet Orders.
