A friend of mine did some research and gave me some insight into fleet carriers. He works for the Brewer Corporation who makes the Drake Class Carrier that will be available to us private citizens soon. His info is actually making me re-think my aspirations of owning one. His break down of the information is as follows:
5 billion upfront cost, 10 million per week
40 million for refuel service, 9 million per week
50 million repair, 9 million per week
95 million armory, 11 million per week
150 million redemption, 12 million per week
520 million shipyard, 42 million per week
390 million outfitting, 36 million per week
140 million warehouse, 18 million per week
purchase in full - 6.385 billion
per week costs - 147 million
first year of ownership - 14.029 billion
every additional year - 7.644 billion
Yikes! That is a lot of credits, and it sounds like they wont be able to trade with the local markets only with select pilots, who may or may not be willing to pay the tariffs needed to match the upkeep on one of these. I am no way poor and would likely be able to get the initial purchase in but keeping it running would quickly bankrupt me, or nearly every one. trying to own one.
It might work if I dropped all my other endeavors and just do nothing but work to make the millions to bank roll the whole operation.
Maybe my squadron could manage to keep one going if we had a way we all could donate funds to it. Its almost like it was designed for a group to pay for it not an individual pilot...
All in all seems like a lousy deal and one that most pilots will back right down form. Too bad would really have liked to own one of them.
