Following the result of the Royal Election, High Lord of the Vestige Lyria Eardley has announced that the Lady Cassandra Varr will not only lead Svantiochna as its Representative, but will also be awarded a Knighthood for her contributions to Spearhead Charter in winning the vote there.
"Cassandra Varr has been an invaluable member of the Spearhead Charter Royal Guard, and is considered a hero by many in Svantiochna. In just the last month she has taken a struggling backwater world to an industrial powerhouse, with job satisfaction skyrocketing. Miners are enjoying much greater quality of life, and goods are flowing from the system, and much of that is due to the efforts of Lady Varr. While her political position allows her to coordinate large scale efforts to operate the system, she is not above taking to her ship and joining in the hard work herself.
Lady Varr has also distinguished herself in managing the SCRG's efforts across the Vestige, leading further expansions into Soko Oh and Gliese 3876. It is as a result of this that she has recently taken this role on officially, and is now a Lieutenant serving in Spearhead Command. Lieutenant Cassandra Varr is a shining example of the numerous dedicated individuals within our Royal Guard, and she honours us all. It is with pleasure that I extend my gratitude for her service, and grant her the title Knight of Svantiochna.

Some have questioned Lady Varr's position as Representative of Svantiochna however. The mandate of Spearhead Charter Representatives is to uphold the democratic system, and yet Varr has on numerous occasions taken action without debating with the councillors of the system, taking shortcuts to reach decisions. This attitude is in the minority however, and is projected to diminish further with her newfound status; as a Knight, respect for Lieutenant Varr has already noticeably increased beyond her already exalted reputation. The move has however resulted in criticism for the High Lord of the Vestige. One critic declared Her Majesty a hypocrite, for promoting a democratic system with one hand and rewarding autocracy with the other. While an extreme view, several individuals have shown support for the statement. Many more however have praised the move, out of support for the military strength afforded by the ability for quick decisions to be made in a time of crisis. Lady Cassandra Varr was approached for a comment.

Meanwhile, the military forces of the Vestige have been stirring. Spearhead Command has coordinated the assembly of a vast armada, combining the might of the Spearhead Charter Navy, Military, and Auxilliary Force. Led by the Spearhead Charter Royal Guard, the strike force has begun training drills to prepare the forces for war. The Spearhead Charter Police Force has doubled patrols across all controlled systems of the Vestige, and scientists of Manktas Independents have assisted by rigging the two Spearhead Charter controlled Gateways of the Manktas Defence Network for operation under police control. Spearhead Charter Intelligence has been quiet, with many awaiting a report on the location of forces loyal to Xeria's Wrath, and particularly the civilians taken hostage during their attack on the Coronation a few weeks ago. It is clear that behind closed doors, Spearhead Command has been working to make improvements to the military's structure, however so far nothing has been officially declared.
