Personal Log - New Squadron, New Challenges
03 Jun 2021DeNeill
I am back in the black. After a long hiatus from space for other endeavours, I have returned into the cockpit
only to find my former Squadron in a state of abandonment and disrepair. Thus began
my search for a new squadron.
After looking at the currently available job offers for a while, I have found a new home
within the I.P.C. - a friendly bunch of pilots from all over the sector, bringing together
new pilots and veterans alike. I have also clocked my 1000th hour in space and finally
completed my federation ranks to get my hands on the Federal Corvette, so things
are looking great (good bye forever, Sothis and Ceos. May a gamma flash take you).
To celebrate this milestone, my newly acquired and fully engineered Corvette shall
bear the name "The Thousandth Hour".
Today, the Carrier [IPC] Byzantium headed out to the Jaralis system, where a few of
my new squadron mates (Starkiller_, Sparser, Cloud Breaker) and I decided to teach
the Thargoids a lesson. Until now, I had only fought Thargoid scouts, so going after
a Medusa, which I had met but not fought before, sounded like a good challenge.
I brought my Imperial Eagle "Unscratchable Itch", recently refit for thargoid combat,
and managed to keep my hull intact at all times. It was a rather close shave
on the second of three encounters, where I returned to the station at 5% hull,
but I also managed killing a few hearts (two that I could confirm personally,
one reported by a wing mate). So overall, today was a great success and a
good chance to brush the rust off my piloting skills.
I feel like there are many more great things to come.
DeNeill, signing off.
