Background

August 4, 3303 - A multinational research initiative Aegis is founded jointly by scientists from the Federation, Empire, and Alliance. The organization's purpose is to pool scientific expertise and gather further intelligence on the xeno species known as the Thargoids.

July 27, 3307 - Covert operatives for Azimuth Biotech sabotage Aegis Research science vessel "Alexandria", which results in her loss with all hands. Three superpowers launch an independent investigation and the verdict is to suspend Aegis and terminate most of its operations.

January 18, 3308 - Aegis is formally shut down, with its military and xenological research responsibilities assumed by the superpowers' navies and universities.

During its tenure as the unifying force for the human race, Aegis was represented by three minor factions: Aegis Research, Aegis Core, and Aegis Defense responsible for xeno research ventures, maintenance and operations of the Eagle Eye Array and rapid response operations via megaships dispatched to systems experiencing Thargoid incursions, respectively.

About ReForge Aegis

Initiated by CMDR LiveWeyer on September 16, 3308, Operation "Reforge Aegis" is the rallying cry of any remaining Aegis loyalists or potential financial backers to organize behind a common goal of creating an independent Aegis through support of the remnants from the Aegis Research faction. Since then, movement grew into a multi-faction Coalition dedicated to Xeno Research and Defense, advocating for reinstatement and reformation of Aegis led by Professor Alba Tesreau.

ReForge Aegis Current History

Year 3308
In response to the attempted Xenocide via Proteus Wave project orchestrated by Azimuth Biotech, on November 29, 3308, Thargoids have launched an offensive on the borders of human territory and started rapidly expanding inwards, seizing control of the inhabited systems and killing millions indiscriminately.

The rallying cry to unite in the face of possible extinction through reformation of Aegis had been echoed by Professor Alba Tesreau on December 27, 3308, but with the Empire's isolationist policy the vision couldn't be fully realized. Undeterred, Aegis loyalists and other supporters have formed a multi-national Coalition to act in Aegis' place by assisting Engineers in development of modern AX solutions, battling on the frontlines of the Second Thargoid War, rescuing civilian populations, and conducting research on the Maelstroms and the recent technological advancements displayed by these xeno species.

Year 3309
The interstellar effort of The Coalition continued until on February 13, 3309, the xenological organization Aegis has been officially reformed by the Alliance, Empire and Federation and the mantle of leadership was granted to Professor Alba Tesreau.
