In late 3305, on the edge of the Bubble, a large faction fell into a full-scale war that ultimately led to its destruction. From the ruins of that faction, a group of likeminded Commanders left the rim and headed for the core of the Bubble. Eventually they settled in CD-44 10336 and began anew. They determined that the cause of the collapse of their previous faction was an ill-equipped navy that was simply incapable of protecting their systems and citizens from incursion and an ineffective political structure that resulted in critical decisions taking weeks or months to be made, often being based on woefully outdated information by the time any decisions were finalized. As a result, they decided to found a new faction, a new government, taking notes from the failures and successes of the old and, after a few months of work, they founded “The Brotherhood of the Void”.

Their goal was to create a new, peaceful, government that wouldn’t conquer but would incorporate systems peacefully while still being more than capable of defending themselves from any outside threat, whether it be from the Federation, Empire, or Thargoids. Unlike the aggressive and shortsighted approach used by the Federation, Empire, and their previous, now long gone, faction. They wanted to expand, yes, but not simply to conquer and control more territory like their previous faction or the other superpowers, but instead to bring the galaxy closer together, to create a new order, a new superpower that would at long last be the utopia that their ancestors had once dreamed the future to be. When they first began broadcasting their message people from across the Bubble came to their systems in mass, providing them with the resources, support, and manpower to begin their outward expansion, and to make their new home.
