"I don't know why it acts like this," I replied. "But it feels like... it doesn't classify me as a foe..."
Basically, it was really more of a feeling than confirmed knowledge, because the mere fact that the screens had shown me didn't mean much more than that there must be a camera or something similar somewhere. Perhaps they would simply show anyone who approached the pyramid. But at least there had been no defense reaction.
"Maybe we can find out more using the console." I suggested and made a move towards it.
I hadn't even completed my first step when symbols and data streams emerged from the pyramid, merging into a vibrant and complex display of lights and information. It was both mesmerizing and intimidating, yet oddly familiar. I navigated the holographic interface with a mix of instinct and curiosity, my fingers moving through the air as if guided by an unseen hand.
Suddenly, a deep, resonant voice echoed through the chamber, emanating from the pyramid itself. "Welcome, Guardian descendant. Your presence is recognized and honored. State your purpose."
I stood frozen for a moment, the weight of its words sinking in. "You... recognize me?" I asked, my voice tinged with disbelief. I lowered my hand and looked over my shoulder for my companion, just to make sure she was on guard and keeping a watchful eye on the situation.

“My gut instinct is that he’s dead. And if still alive, he was either marooned on a garden world or is the luckiest person in the galaxy.“
Vasil focused the nav holo on Dryo AOB UU-W B45-1. “It’s galactic west of Colonia, about 25 thousand light years from here. Using neutron stars to boost jump range, it should only take a few days to get there. That takes into account occasional stops to repair FSD damage from supercharging the drives.”
“But that’s the easy part,” he said and expanded the view to a 100 light year radius. “Willow is right; finding him depends on knowing where they left him. Assuming they immediately marooned him within two jumps of a non-exploration craft, we are looking at a 50 lightyear radius search, 100 at the most.”
“For general surveying, planets in those systems could be mapped in maybe 12 weeks. However, finding one person in all that space is impossible. Even if we had a specific planet to search, we’ll all likely die of old age before he can be found.”

A minor update: I made some adjustments for the rare commodities listing and the profits now should be more accurate (but keep in mind it's still just an estimate). There however still may be some problems with the max. profit caps for specific commodities and I will update it on the go with more reference data collected.

Hello, if you want to support a faction and have the squadron listed by it, you need to set it under Squadron > Settings > Squadron details. The journals are quite limited in regard of the squadrons and also to avoid any possible problems, it needs to be set manually.

Hello everyone!
I'm new to INARA, just landed.
to be true... I'm actually an old PS player that abandoned the game since Legacy was abandoned by Frontier.
Now.. with the powerplay.. news of new content and the possibility to ridge from PS to steam... well.. I'm back playing on Steam.
I put my hotas from PS to steam.. and voilà!
In real life I'm an aerospace eng passionate for space.
My other hobby is Astrophotography --> you can check my pictures here (yes.. I'm still learning and upgrading my gear) >>> TELESCOPIUS <<<
As well, when I was playing on PS I was so passionate that I created a log for CMDRs...
Just a work of a fan!
If you want to log your adventures and have it on paper you can check this --> CMDR's log
See you out there CMDR's

I shrugged in response.
“Looked, human, to me. But, would have to check, back on carrier. If, there is traces, of Guardian.”
I was fairly certain EDI would’ve been quite interested in analyzing the code of… whatever that AI - so much as it was one - had been. So once I was back on mine, I could freely and happily investigate that. I pointed at the strange device, then.
“Am not, touching, that, however. Also, I think, you should explain, to me, why it reacts, to you, like this.”
I was tempted to cross my arms under the chest, but wanted to keep them free in case I needed to grab ahold of a weapon. Like if I promptly had to shut down that device… by shooting it.
It certainly hadn’t eluded me what it seemed to be doing, almost syncing up to somebody that my not-entirely-natural body had been feeling like held Guardian technology inside it, or some form of it. Not intense enough to trigger the response that a full piece of it did, but still sufficient to cause unease.

Here is a nice tool to find the direction to specific coordinates
https://edbearingcalc.neocities.org/
Strange, that you cant set your destination on a planet by coordinates.

Guiding her Pyton out of the slot, eager to be away from Summerland and the Golden Jackal, Willow chimed in with her observations from Maul's holo-call with Seraphine
"Er, so the doc said the Offohis was in Dryo BO whats-O, when they got told to like, dump the guy, right? And ah, historically, leaving someone was like, a slow death thing, you know? Crule and unusual punishment style. Yeah, so it's not looking good for like, fining someone waiting for rescue, is it?"
"But what ever, that's only where they got told what to do with the guy, right? Doesn't mean that's where he is"
Willow realized she had no idea where this Dryo place was, and she'd never been to Colonia before. To get a grasp of how far out they would have to go, she plotted the fastest rout to Colonia. The big number of jumps it would take to get there, put her right off going 500 light years beyond that.
"Er yeah. So before we go looking for someone with a carrier to take us waaaay out there, I think we need more info, you know? Like, at least a body to start searching, right? It's like, they could have dumped him on an asteroid, you know?"

"I would also prefer to be further away right now..."
And that was nothing other than the plain truth. I hadn't really been threatened yet, but I felt strangely exposed, almost naked. There must have been a thousand places I'd rather be right now.
"And you are right, except that this isn't tech that looks Guardian - it actually is Guardian tech. I’ve come across a similar pyramid in an ancient ruin before, but never one that’s active. Look at all these power lines hooked up to it... The energy needed to keep this thing running must be off the charts! They also connected a console to it."
It looked like the pyramid was functioning as some sort of computer, accessed through the console in a fusion of Guardian and Human technology. I couldn’t help but wonder if it was linked to the other pyramid we saw on one of the displays earlier, possibly through the monolith network. I had read about it before, but I found it hard to believe this network, or at least parts of it, could still be active after all this time. I also couldn't really imagine why this pyramid was even here. Apparently, this facility was about much more than just Helix.
"Do you think this has anything to do with the Black Ice we encountered? The program that was defeated by your hacking device seemed to me to be of human origin. As far as you can tell with a program..."
I was still standing where I was when the pulsing of the symbols on the pyramid had equalised with my heartbeat, not knowing what to do next.

probably suspending power conflict zones next. If u spend there for a while u can rank up 2-3 times.
Im going kill some thargoids to vent frustation tomorrow from frontier silliness.

I'm horrified. Now trading in rare goods for Powerplay 2.0 has also been suspended. You no longer receive merit for leveling up the rank of the respective power. Most gamers have exploited a bug in the Odyssey settlements to quickly rank up. It concerned uploading data to the data terminal. I'm excited to see what happens next.

There is a known issue with bartender trading since PP2 dropped. A post has been added to the FDev issue tracker about it so they should be aware.
If anyone wishes to help prioritize the issue you can add a comment on that post, more the merrier!

Yeah, the Thargoids themselves can fly, but launching them with a catapult has that sweet touch of insanity I want this operation to have. Imagine those idiots being showered with Cyclopes covered in uncensored unfiltered graffitis, and they also woo loudly. Like those WWII bomb whistles or Stuka sirens, but woo.

AH in Rant corner
Girls, read this part out loud because it was actually written to you (I hope you get it.):
I think you wrote this to yourself.
If everything gets your panties in a punch, the problems is probably between your seat and the keyboard.
I can type "Hello world!" and I am sure you are already hearing whistles and seeing flashing lights "Ban! Block! Delete!". That's not healthy, BTW.
I hope your little exercise of writing about your problems helps you understand yourself a bit better and maybe even restrain you all from whipping each other into a frenzy of impotent rage over nothing.
All I can add is, lady, chill and I hope you get better.

Aren't those 'metas' all the same? Get maximum upgrade here, maximum upgrade there, etc. I mean, there are cases in which you can apply, to say, a different FSD effect to sacrifice a couple lightyears of jump range for a few fractions of a degree in manoeuvrability, or just leave a stump of an FSD to absolutely gimp the ship and make in unplayable anywhere except the role it was built for, and at that role, you'll get a few more fractions of degrees or m/s of speed or 0.x's of jump range for the sake of it. Or some niche builds which can, for example, stay under 20% heat at a normal flight if you don't shoot, don't touch the boost and don't fart, for mat farming or classic cold-orbiting.

Oh the FdL is super fine for all combat tasks, don't take this the wrong way. It's just that the FdL has been engineered and loaded out to death over the years. Her "best" configuration are somewhat clear and if you know the ship (which you do expertly!), it gets the job done with precision.
The PMk2 (and the Mandalay) are just new and there's not yet a "meta" configuration for all potential jobs. This will eventually be settled and then the conversation will die down on these ships (or return to a normal volume).

Okay, I got it, Pee Mk2 is all the buzz these days, maybe only a bit eclipsed by the Mandalay. Whatever. I'd rather keep on shreddin'.
Yeah, it's double-heatsink for 0-4-2 pips but, on the other hand, they're cheap and you can synth them on the go.

Rawnu in Elite: Lore
That's very true, multicrew and if lots of people are in one instance is causing some issues. And the more popular the game gets (again), the more pressing these issues will be for Frontier to solve. But what I meant was that, unlike Star Citizen, you are not trapped in elevator for no reason or can't enter or exit your ship For a game of its complexity, Elite works pretty well and gives you a smooth experience most of the time (unless its rollout day for a big update or a general Thursday, go touch grass on Thursday's).
What I really enjoy is the different stuff you can do. And if you feel like it, you can just go lore hunting and take sweet pictures along the way

The Mamba was (and probably is) my favorite combat ship just because it looks so good. The slidey-ness, as you call it, can be managed rather well by using boost attenuation. So, using boost not to run away but to turn faster and with more precision by (1) press boost, (2) start turning towards target, (3) dropping landing gear to cancel speed (but turning rate stays high), (4) acquire target, (5) retrieve landing gear, (6) pew pew pew on target.
The hardpoint location of the Mamba is also really good, they are all on the dorsal (upper) side of the ship (which also means that there is never the situation that a hardpoint will stop firing when dropping the landing gear, unlike the FdL, which has a hardpoint on her belly). This little "trick" really helps with the agility of the Mamba a lot (you need at least two pips in engines, better two and half or three, to do this more or less continously; just don't forget to retrieve your landing gear before the next boost cycle).
As far as Hardpoints go, the huge one can be either a big fat beam laser or a PA. Then you can go either all frags in the large and small, or mix it with two large frags (one with drag, it's too funny to see your target trying to boost and it just fizzles), and two small rails (one with feedback cascade). You could also mix the small ones, with one rail and one MC (with corrosive).
It's really a fantastic and stylish murder boat and once you get the hang of her, you can flip and turn very quickly and precisely.

The call had ended with Seraphine shortly before Vasil's voice came through the comms.
"W-wait...did you just say 5000 fucking light years?" Maul asked, knowing very well what Vasil had just said. He abruptly ended the call, shutting down the holo projector, and made his way quickly as possible to Vasil.
"They seriously ditched this dude 5000 light years from the bubble!?" asked Maul as he entered the room, still in near disbelief of this newfound information. He didn't expect a rational explanation from Vasil but that didn't stop the questions. "How come they didn't just axe him on the spot? Why would Vengerfield keep him alive? Why toss him? Reckon they're monitoring him or something, ya think? Err, wait, could he even survive all this time without outside help?"
"Fuck dude, after all that we've wound up with more Q's than A's." Finally taking a breath and ceasing his sporadic pacing and rambling, he looked at Vasil who was sat before a field of holo stars. "So what's that deep space explorer's gut of yours telling you about all this?"

The bug fest I witnessed trying to give a friend of mine a multicrew ride to a Thargoid-attacked starport, or when we had a 'Guardian ruins picnic', kind of makes it hard to believe these words are true. Though, most of that was caused by the poor networking/instancing implementation, not the game mechanics.
But I agree on the backstory note, it gives you a heckload of instruments to have fun with, and not only in the game itself, but also like roleplaying or fanfic writing.
And sometimes the pictures are quite nice.
