The call had ended with Seraphine shortly before Vasil's voice came through the comms.

"W-wait...did you just say 5000 fucking light years?" Maul asked, knowing very well what Vasil had just said. He abruptly ended the call, shutting down the holo projector, and made his way quickly as possible to Vasil.

"They seriously ditched this dude 5000 light years from the bubble!?" asked Maul as he entered the room, still in near disbelief of this newfound information. He didn't expect a rational explanation from Vasil but that didn't stop the questions. "How come they didn't just axe him on the spot? Why would Vengerfield keep him alive? Why toss him? Reckon they're monitoring him or something, ya think? Err, wait, could he even survive all this time without outside help?"

"Fuck dude, after all that we've wound up with more Q's than A's." Finally taking a breath and ceasing his sporadic pacing and rambling, he looked at Vasil who was sat before a field of holo stars. "So what's that deep space explorer's gut of yours telling you about all this?"

The bug fest I witnessed trying to give a friend of mine a multicrew ride to a Thargoid-attacked starport, or when we had a 'Guardian ruins picnic', kind of makes it hard to believe these words are true. Though, most of that was caused by the poor networking/instancing implementation, not the game mechanics.

But I agree on the backstory note, it gives you a heckload of instruments to have fun with, and not only in the game itself, but also like roleplaying or fanfic writing.

And sometimes the pictures are quite nice.

That's the thing: Elite is a fully developed game, with a sh*tton of gameloops and mechanics that all work and surprisingly few bugs (the occasional stuck FSD jump screen because of server load). It has also a fully developed and varied lore, making all these claims by some of "miles wide, inches deep" ridiculous. You don't need to dive into the backstory to enjoy the game, but if you do you see the Elite galaxy with different eyes. So fly dangerous, Commander!

Raxxla is real, it is...

Try AX FDL with Modshards, that's a heckload o' fun

i have on my mind to the replace my pve fdl for heavy combat with other ships but fdl is just superior medium ship.

Python mk2 when i get time for testing: Angela Deth 2.0
Fer der Lance: Angela Deth

Mostly i use mk2 for ax combat and im very satisfied to use that as my main ax combat instead ax corvette

Hi Rawnu Seriously I'm laughing... Don't...just... don't! But what the hell, go for it even though there'd be nothing but a corpse sitting at this keyboard at the end .
Just returning to Elite after diving down the well of Star Citizen (and a short trial of StarField) and realizing how deep and complete Elite is. Played for years on PS4 pro and reset to PC but lost everything and started over. Elite doesn't get the credit it deserves, it's actually complete and goes farther than my imagination goes.
Nothing is impossible, make it up and you never know or die trying . no, of course go for it made me truly LOL.
Recently have been trying out TCE MK 2 which threw me in here.
Be well and keep up that sense of humor.

If there was a way to get some stock without footie work I'd have mine enabled, as it is, Bartenders are a waste of time...
20 Nov 2024, 6:07am
I can already tell people right now that bar surprises, because for some reason everybody specifically decided to target the systems which would have launched them (god forbid fun is allowed to persist)... there will be no dedicated invasions around Cocijo this Thursday. Maybe there might be some of those counterstrike reactivated ports but if not, or some other change occurs to allow the invasions to happen anyway... well, it looks like a boring week ahead if you were looking to fight around an active station.

Some are, some are not.
20 Nov 2024, 2:35am
I have noticed that the bartenders on carriers that I have visited lately don’t seem to have stock to sell and aren’t buying either.
20 Nov 2024, 2:32am
Make sure you're trying to sell them in an anarchy, it's an illegal item which can't be sold in most government types (may also work in communist systems, not 100% sure but they are the only other type which tolerates carrying of e-breaches if memory serves, so might work there too). If that's not the issue, I don't know.

*Of course it could also work with a carrier anywhere, but as Vasil said there's some bugs surrounding that right now.
20 Nov 2024, 1:55am
Your moral compass is impeccable, we are all safe...
20 Nov 2024, 1:32am
Don't know if it is related, but I have been experiencing issues where the game is telling me I do not have the item I want to transfer to my carrier, even though I clearly have the items in inventory. When I sell the items to my FC bartender in a work-around attempt to transfer them, the items just simply disappear and are no longer in my inventory, or on the bartender/FC inventory.

I am not sure if there are any sales influencers, but it certainly would be better with less conspiracy theorists and doomsayers.
20 Nov 2024, 12:24am
I can respect that, but if you keep letting this stuff fly you'll find the decent customers will just stop showing up. I'd very much like to be able to play a video game and partake of this very necessary 3rd party webapp you've created without being accosted or denigrated for just existing.
20 Nov 2024, 12:24am
The INARA would be a better place if it had less sales influencers and more real players.
20 Nov 2024, 12:19am
I would so play cqc more but I can never seem to find a game. Frankly perhaps I should just try the mamba. I like it's looks much more than the fdl I never use
20 Nov 2024, 12:03am
Okay I don’t know what I’m doing wrong but I cannot seem to sell smear campaign plans to any bartender. They don’t even show up in the Data list to sell. Am trying to unlock Yarden Bond. Any help would be appreciated
Hi there,
I recently created a squadron in the game supporting a minor faction.
I then tried to create it on Inara?

The game seems to be happy with my new squadron.
But for some reason it does not show upon Inara?

It is probably a mistake I have made?
But I have gone through things & can not see where I may have gone wrong?

Maybe nothing happens until Thursday?
It is hard to know though?

I wanted to call the squadron a slightly different name to the name of the faction that I am supporting?
Which I have seen many others do before.
May be that has something to do with it?

Thank you for your fantastic site.
I expect that I have made an error somewhere?

Cheers

I'm a big fan of that "slidey-ness" and work it into my piloting and targeting. Even in other "flight combat" type games -- which I find myself playing less than Elite these days -- I prefer quick and nimble to slow and steady. (It's also part of why I enjoy CQC so much.)

As far as strategy for when I'm flying the Mamba (and therefore while bounty hunting): I browse potential targets, settle on one (or a wing of 'em), get close enough to K-Scan each one, then tuck in behind whichever ship I'm going to target first, ....

Line up my Plasma Acc, and fire. That usually wipes out NPC shields instantly so, while still sitting right behind them, I place a couple solid frag hits. For smaller ships they're toast by now. For larger ones, they'll usually zip away or try to. I'll try to stay right behind them and pepper them with frag. If they manage to get out of good frag range, I'll remind them that I have a long-range Plasma Acc.
If I'm feeling particularly mean (or if it's a big ol' ship with lots of teeth), I'll target their subsystems before I fire my first Plasma. Usually I go for their Power Plant.

When I end up in surprisingly long engagements, I'll switch tactics to targeting them as if they are Thargoid Interceptors (i.e. orbit technique and target their subsystems as if hearts). The engagements aren't usually long at all; I'll cycle through that main strategy above ("As far as strategy... " to "... long-range Plasma") a few times for multiple ships in a few minutes; each ship probably a minute or less from opening salvo to pop.

I certainly appreciate your civil tone and not escalating the situation it further.

I will only add that even when no rule is clearly broken, I may take measures against certain kinds of behavior when I will feel it's "too much" or it's happening for too long or that it harms the discussions in a longer term. It's like being in a club here - you can drink for free, you can eat for free, you can even puke into the corner sometimes and I will clean it, but when somebody will start to shit on the tables, break the furniture or annoy the bartender and guests too much, then they are shown the door.

As far as I'm concerned re shield engineering, I'd go with reinforced/hi-cap on prismatics (though old me apparently decided to thermal resist engineer one anyway, for a Corvette), purely for the hitpoints, and thermal resist + either hi cap, lo draw or fast charge (depending on preferences and/or setup needs) for bi-weaves, to take better advantage of their faster recharge times through having high resistance numbers across the board (though it will end up slightly weaker to kinetic damage than a reinforced shield, NPCs have a great enough weapon variety that I've never found it to be a practical issue).

... I have no experience playing with the standard shield generator, however. So I can't provide any particular views on that one. Of course, thermal resist is one of those things which resists the plasma accelerators less well but generally against PvE opponents I haven't found a meaningful difference between both for bi-weaves (but it's probably worth going reinforced no matter what on prismatics if you have enough shield booster slots available to balance the resistances out better, and achieve similar numbers to thermal resistant). And it might be a no brainer for PvP, not that I engage in it.

Also still have a plan to throw together a Mamba myself once the Titan bonanza has concluded (even if Thargoids are very liable to stick around past it). Probably also with frag cannons, though I'm not quite sure on exact specifics of the weapon engineering (or what to do with the C1 hardpoints, not going to have Powerplay modules - by choice - and I can't say I am a fan of rails).

How do you handle the Mambas slidey- ness. Do you boom and zoom ala a P-38 or do you have a strat that helps keep it on target. I think the mamba looks so cool but the bad handling keeps me away
19 Nov 2024, 10:47pm
Got it. Check out my Mamba, "Piece-Maker". It's one I've built for Bounty Hunting; you can see how I've got the frags built and the shield gen too.
I'll point out that I handle bounty hunting differently than assassination. Bounty Hunting, I'm usually hanging out somewhere (i.e. Nav Beacon) and just scanning for targets. Assassination, I'm hunting someone specific (whether in a wing or not).

For my assassination build, you'll want to see my FDL, "Thrill-Seeker". It's great for quick single-target kills. I don't like to stick around long if the target has friends though. It's also a decent PVP build, based on one in-fact.

I am absolutely certain you have better things to do with your time than chase ideologs on a spaceship forum. I'm sorry you even have to bother. The best I can do is assuredly not engage even with the continually quoted text bur seriously I keep having to deal with it over and over and it's exceptionally off putting. We're just trying to play a space game not browse infowars here.
