Elite: Odyssey

SakashiroThose are magnetic drinks in magnetic glasses. And I'm sure there's hairspray in 3307.

By the way, I've been to shoebox stations in Horizons where in the starport services screen you can see the station administrator standing in front of an office desk with items scattered around.

When it comes to zero-G realism, the only game I know that gets it right is Space Engineers.

NO NO NO...you want realistic gravity??? you may laugh but nothing beats the coding of gravity in Kerbal Space Program. Thats realistic gravity right there and i DONT think it would be very nice to play elite like if it was kerbal space program, because then it would take you about 20 minutes to dock, and several orbits to get you alignment right for slingshot and stuff..fortunately for Elite players we have a semi-realistic gravity system...there are no zero g environments and trust me when i say as KSP player...thats a good thing in game like this.

SakashiroI can't wait to disembark and jump around on a 9G planet.

at 9 g's i doubt youll be able to jump..maybe it will perma-crouch you.lol

The suit does more than protect you from the vacuum part, no? I could imagine a suit constructed with 3307 year tech being able to withstand high gravity. Titanium would posses the strength, no?

9 g's a titanium/carbon latice will do just fine exept the body inside the suit will still feel 9 g's, the organs inside the body will still be at 9 g's, the only sci-fi-doable-in-reality tech that would kinda explain running and jumping around in 9 g's would be a personal antigrav field, sorta like supercruising on foot. where if you are slightly phased out of your immidiate surrounding space time (a bubble) then the 9 g's are off phase with you so you would experience 0 g

in which case nothing would stop you from iroman-ing out into space....

Actually, not.

A suit with rigid dimensions & net-zero change to interior volume upon flexing/movement could be equipped to fill the minor space between the body & the suit itself with a liquid, & as I mentioned a good while back, providing a highly-oxygenated fluid to breathe would largely mitigate the worst of the high-gee effects. Since the pressure of the liquid inside & outside the body (the vast majority of which is fluid anyway) would be equalized, while the effects of the increased gravity on the mass can be moderated via powered exo-suit abilities.
31 Mar 2021, 8:47pm
ok yes the placenta suit....other than that if you gonna go the electromag way then a field is mandatory, the placenta suit may mitigate some, but not all of the g's as the fluid itself would subjected to the gravitational wave of the planetary body which means your fluid will crush the body inside the suit as the fluid itself will apply even higher pressure all around...remeber first law of gas and fluids and that is pressure spreads in all directions with the same intensity in gasses and fluids alike, meaning your guy inside a fluid heavier than air will get actually crushed even further.
31 Mar 2021, 8:48pm
you see the suit sustains the presure of the atmosphere but the gravity itself permeates everything, there is no way to escape it in fluid. only way is to shift.

i could spend the next three or four days working out the actual math of your oxygenated fluid and how 9.8 metters squared times nine would affect something simpler like...lets say a fruit. we have as a parameter amniotic fluid's density and composition to begin with.from there we can work volume of oxygen needed plus actual pressure of the fluid under nine times earths gravity. but then whos gonna gank everyone in elite?

I google "high gravity" and get results about brewing beer. Is that my personal filter bubble?

Finally found something: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-G_training

A trained, fit individual wearing a g suit and practising the straining maneuver can, with some difficulty, sustain up to 9 g without loss of consciousness.

Hmm, I don't have a G suit. Will a G string do?

I still don't understand why I get shot at during a threat 0 mission where my objective is to repair (!) something.

And wtf does this mean anyway?

I see the power thingy in my inventory, but where's that power center? I cut out a few access panels here and there, but how do I use what's behind them? Am I missing some keybindings?

Ah I had a mission like that. In my case, I used the energylink weapon thingy to power up a terminal and then used that to find where the power plant was and then marked where the regulator housing was. Then ya just follow the marker on your compass.

SakashiroHmm, I don't have a G suit. Will a G string do?

I don't see why not.
