Yuna SakashiroThose photos are nice, but they don't represent what the game actually looks like most of the time.

They pretty much do for me and I have an average PC. Don't know what you're doing wrong. Looking in all the wrong places? Who knows.
Got tonnes of these and could post them all day.

That is a game which was sold as fully finished 16 months ago. Yeah, you can make screenshots but that is all.
The game is still largely unfinished and poorly optimized.

It's not the PC. The game is just full of wrong places. Of course few photos are taken there, so only the shiny stuff ends up in galleries.

i used the code for 8gb+ gpu and changed the LODDistanceScale to max. the ´Custom Display Quality Settings´ there was nearly identical with mine only two things i changed at mine.
scince them graphic is really much nicer than before and more smoother. no shadow flickering or else. looks great at my medium quality settings. here i found some display settings explained: Elite Dangerous Graphic Settings

Silver Taffer In my opinion that’s a conditional yes. Conditional, primarily, on whether your PC has mid to upper range specs.
It’s not a popular opinion here, I know, but I think Frontier have put a great deal of effort into optimising Odyssey, and it shows.
My two credits worth, for what it’s worth .......... *looks around for air raid bunker*
I rest my case

Ooh, that case was heavy!
In any case, playing the game day in and day out, 99 times out of 100 I don't see these problems. When I do, it's momentary. Anyway, back to having fun... ciao

This was already discussed at length in Frontier's forum. Hardware blaming is always the first impulse, but even the guy with the top shelf GPU and plenty of tweaking skills couldn't make the pixels go away on his rig.

Ultimately you can enjoy the game however you want but it doesn't change facts. There are numerous bugs and performance is terrible compared to other games of a similar visual quality or with similar hardware specs. Players with no/minimal problems in the game are the minority.

If there are any Cmdrs out there that havent tried EDO, give it a go if you can, you may be pleasantly surprised. I was, and I'm actually annoyed that I listened to all the negativity (which seems warranted initially to be fair) when I could have been playing the new stuff. Just need the console port to start to get my normal Cmdr back now.

Oak7603A few weeks ago, I took a leap of faith to get Odyssey (after primarily being a PS4 Cmdr, but with a copy of ED on Steam) and had an average laptop. EDO ran OK on there if I didn't go to a settlement which was surprising after all the negativity that I kept getting bombarded with.
Upon release, it was settlements and station concourses where players noticed the biggest hit to game performance. I'm running a Ryzen 7 5800X, 32GB RAM, RTX 3090, and the game is installed on an SSD. When Odyssey released I was capping at 30 FPS in station concourses. Settlements were like watching a slide show. It's significantly better now but the sad part is that the community started digging into the game to find out what the problems were and in some cases it was really dumb. For example, if you went to a surface settlement and there was a fire, the smoke shader by itself would tank your performance. Even old GTX 980's are capable of adequately running Odyssey settlements if you went into the game files and disabled the smoke shader (reported difference was going from 19 FPS to 56 FPS). What's even sadder about this is that the smoke shader utilized was a barrowed asset from Horizons. It's the same smoke shader utilized in the mail slots of stations. Considering they managed to take a preexisting in-game asset and reuse it in such a poorly optimized way makes me question how well their current development staff understands their proprietary Cobra engine.
