EpisparhMy courier scanner is fine. Just reduce your HUD brightness and adjust your gamma to normal.

This is my Courier's cockpit reflecting the light of ShinDez. I'm not even close to the star, just outside Jameson Memorial.

Here's my Mamba for comparison.

My gamma slider is exactly where yours is. But your cockpit in that image isn't facing a star. In the dark mine looks OK, too.

Yeah, too easy.

Sigh, any star or particular class. I haven't noticed any such issues around stars.

Ok.

So the star must be on top of your cockpit to achieve that. That explains a lot - my usual maneuver is roll right and pitch up. This is the reason why I haven't noticed that When I fuel scoop the star is on the left or bellow me.

Certainly any main sequence star. Haven't been around others much lately.

Edited my previous post. That was an F star.

As I mentioned, my pic was taken next to Jameson Memorial. The star wasn't anywhere close, it was a small dot in the sky. Probably in the transition to PBR, FDev replaced the Courier's dashboard materials with very shiny ones. You can look at the pre-EDO videos on my YT channel; at no point did a star in Horizons illuminate the Courier's cockpit like that. The reflection of that stupid orange point light above the scanner wasn't there either.

I think the cutter have same problem but it is not presented in clipper's HUD.

Anyway, one more reason to switch ships.

I just checked out a threat 7 pirate activity zone in San Tu. Killed a deadly Conda and got no bounty voucher! Wtf?

Then I realized San Tu is an anarchy system. Typical newbie mistake.

I'm kind of hesitant to drop a shield booster for a KWS. Especially in a place that's crawling with engineered ships.

is there a reason my fighter pilot is leveling up soooo much faster than me? She has gone from scratch to 40% competent in the same time I have gone from 35% competent, to 40%. She isnt even used in every battle.

Combat rank progression requirements are exponential, meaning higher rank requires more ships with better ranks killed. Each rank requires more than all previous rank combined.

Crew pilots get half of your combat rank progression. And they will get that plus the cut from all credits earned regardless of if you take them with you or leave them in the bar. Note: the credit cut is not only from combat activity but from anything.

Now that you are same rank - your progress will be equal.

They do take a credit cut from everything you do. That said if you get an SLF pilot at "Harmless" and rank them all the way up to "Elite" they only take a 10% cut from all your profits. If you got them at "Expert" and rank them up to "Elite" they take 16%. In my opinion it's worth it to give up 10% in exchange for having an Elite SLF pilot for when you need one.

As for their rank progression, it doesn't matter what your rank is or their rank. They rank up significantly faster. On my alt accounts, I got SLF pilots immediately. In the time it took me to go from "Harmless" to "Competent," the SLF pilots went from "Harmless" to "Elite."

SakashiroI just checked out a threat 7 pirate activity zone in San Tu.

While I have not been able to validate it myself yet, I have heard from multiple sources that threat level 7 pirates have a chance to spawn NPC's who have access to weapons and engineering that players cannot get. Supposedly some can spawn in with turreted plasma accelerators that still have the damage output of the fixed versions. Have you or anyone else here encountered such a thing?

Personally I don't run with a KWS. I figure I'll just make up for it in volume of pirate kills by keeping modules that keep me alive. But that's just my opinion.

Before engineering I never used KWS. For me it was much more time efficient to spend that extra 10 seconds killing rather than scanning. You can scan in 2 seconds now with Fast Scan so that isn't as much of an issue as it used to be. If you never get below a certain threshold of shields then you may as well get some extra income with the KWS, otherwise I would keep the booster. Of course if you spend a lot of time bounty hunting in anarchy systems then there isn't much of a choice.
