Commanders having Elite from Epic games store with http 400 error
When you try to link your accounts, you may receive the http error 400 about expired tokens. It's an issue on Frontier's end that I cannot solve on Inara. Fortunately, the solution is simple - please give it a few days and it will start to work later (probably when the access token on their cAPI server expires). If the error 400 appeared later and it worked before, try to reauthenticate as said in the error message (may be just a regular reauth forced by Frontier). Alternatively, you can try to use the workaround below. If even that won't work, it's the problem described above.

Possible workaround: Try to connect the account while you are in the game. It may work.

Game data and imports not available for console commanders and PC players with Legacy game version
Inara supports only the Live game version (so PC Horizons 4.0 and Odyssey) since game update 14, thus all the game data on the site and the commander data imports work only for those game versions.

Alright, amongst other things and improvements, I have added an extra option under the "My profile" menu where you can turn the "shrunken mode" on, adjusting some things more on par in size with the old Inara, if that will make browsing more comfortable for you.

personally, i dont really like the new UI,
i found it to have less information on one page, and the website is just smaller letting a huge part of the srceen empty

first of all, because I can't say this often enough: Endless thanks for everything you have done and are doing for the Elite community. Frontier should put you on the payroll, because the game wouldn't be what it is without you.

I'm on your site many times a day, so changes feel to me like rearranging the keys on a piano, that´s why I sticked most of the time to the old version for now, sorry. But that's how it is and I will help in a constructive way.

Here are a few initial comments or questions about things I've noticed.

- It is very difficult that many internal Inara links we set, e.g. to the system overview, no longer work in the new Version. We have to change a few things to make the links functional again. Or will that change when the new version is finally available on its own?

- The pictures in "Thread"(Edit) no longer scale down and are now sometimes too large for the display. Perhaps this can be changed again, as we have decorated every thread with them?

Own suggestions, which could perhaps be improved in the old version as well:

- Central for the BGS players is the overview of the star systems in which they are represented. A lot of information is very important there (Star System, Inf, Updated), but also many entries that you rarely need because you know the systems. On the mobile phone, they now appear even more prominently in the new version and are close to not useable anymore in our case. Perhaps it would be possible to hide various information (Economy, Goverment, Allegiance, Population, STA, Power) by ticking them off permanently in the profile for systems of the own Squad?

- As a squadron leader over many hundreds of pilots I miss the information in the Rooster how many messages a pilot has posted, or when they last did so. I would be very happy if this information were available again to have more information how active someone is on our Inara Forum.

- I know that memory space is expensive. But I find it in a way a flaw, that personal messages are deleted after some time. Unfortunately, this makes Inara rather unsuitable for long-term diplomatic conversations, where leaders sometimes want to refer back to agreements among themselves much later. It would be very nice if at least the supporters could keep the messages.

You can keep the links as they are, there is aliasing set so it still leads (or will lead, depending on the version used by the user) to the correct page. If it's not working for some reason, please let me know.

Can you please point me to the respective thread? I will take a look at that, as it's certainly not a desired behavior. It should be fixed.

Hey Artie, not sure if it's been noted yet, but direct links in log books and squadron docs will need to be edited. It isn't an issue for me, but folks who have guides and linked everything together may have significant work for themselves.
Specifically logs like:

You may look in our (LIKEDEELER) Command Room. It´s the first direct link in the Header for example to our Faction overview which say now in the new Version, it´s broken.

Can you please point me to the respective thread? I will take a look at that, as it's certainly not a desired behavior.


Also in our Command Room for example on the right side is our red, white and black logo now very huge. I can of course upload a smaller version, but I think all pictures should be resized automatically by the code, as before.

Sometimes Important: Number of Factions
Could be: Population, Power
Less by familiar Systems: Economy, Government, Allegiance, STA

Ah, right, good point. I will take a look to some aliasing for these, thanks for bringing that to my attention (I somewhat didn't test the links for logbooks and documents earlier). Please keep the links as they are, I will do something about that.

your welcome, but what i was trying to say is the opposit, the website is too small on a scall of 100%, it only take the center of the screen unlike the old one that take all the screen space, and the shrunken mode dont really change anything for me

I have several remarks:
  1. [general] often the right hand side of the page is empty which forces the remaining content to scale down to area smaller than available
  2. [commodity search] the "pad" information is redundant but for certain page widths takes the whole row of space and makes the list not as compact as it could be
  3. [commodity search] there is no information that is crucial for an old LTD pirate like me: if the station offers Black Market or not
  4. [target ship loadout] uploading the loadout from EDSY doesn't work

I'd be grateful if you manage to find some time to look at those. Thanks!

Yes, what I meant by it that you will fit more info into the given site size with that option. I have no plan at the moment to make the side wider, as it has other implications (like much logbook entries readability, etc.).

Thank you, too! The commodity search was adjusted, so it should be better now.
The ship target loadout import is unfortunately a thing for Coriolis team I cannot affect (they need to send the loadout back to Inara). You can use EDSY for that however.

I am aware about the empty right side of the active Inara supporters on some pages and I would like to put some useful things there. I am mostly waiting for feedback from users about it and I am definitely open to suggestions, so - are there things you would like to have there and at which page(s)?

Thanks. The links to squadron documents and logbooks now should lead to a proper location. For the minor faction links, please change it so it will lead to the respective minor faction page (it will work in both Inara versions).

Apologies in advance if this gets asked frequently. Will there still be support for the old inara version after the new one gets released? Generally not a fan of the new version due to the layout and color scheme. Really hope I can just keep using this one like how reddit has options for the new and old versions too.

Yes, the old Inara will stay here as long as possible. There will be no further development of it (except critical fixes and compatibility adjustments), but until it will start to block me in the next Inara development and improvements, I will keep it live. But give it a try again, I made some minor adjustments to the color scheme a couple of days ago and also added an option for smaller texts and buttons today, so maybe you will like it better now.
