SENATE HOUSE
CAPITOL
ACHENAR
Among the most powerful institutions in the Galaxy was the Imperial Senate. This governing body historically sat at the Senate House on Capitol in the Achenar system. Technically, according to Imperial historic publications, "...the Senate still does sit there, but in practice most Senators 'sit' virtually by remote projection." In spite of this, many patrons conducted business in person at the Senate House often enough. One such patron, who was known for being a bit nostalgic, often insisted on having important meetings face to face. Which brings us to our story.
A minor Lord from the displaced Synteini Imperial Society had made his way through a maze of corridors looking for a particular office. He was now sitting outside this specific office waiting to be summoned. In his hand he held a small holo-projector with which he was using to conduct a meeting of his own - communing with a miniature hologram of his comrade standing in a derelict megaship, many, many light years distant.
Prince Tharik Otoli, the Bane of Maia, and the Captain of the Imperial Corsairs, was paying close attention to a report from his diminutive holo-graphic associate. The image of Bill Boards, First Mate of the Imperial Corsairs, who was very much larger in actuality spoke, "It was a parasite of some kind Cap'n. Some nasty alien beastie from Randomus knows where killed the entire crew. They picked it up on some previously un-discovered world." Tharik twirled his ample moustache around a finger as Mr. Boards continued, "We found the devils and killed several Captain," said Bill as he cleared his weapon, "Something never recorded once in any surveyed world. The creatures gestate inside living human hosts and have concentrated acid for blood." At the edge of what was visible another Corsair could be seen, kicking a alien head across the deck.
Tharik eyes went wide and he exclaimed, "That's incredible. Tell me more!"
Bill glanced away for a moment at some commotion out of view. He fanatically motioned his hands seemingly directing a Corsair to put something down. He shrugged and continued, "Aye, Captain. As far as we know, a larval form lays eggs into a persons chest cavity and then later an adolescent bursts forth from the victim's body killing him. The ship's logs, before they ceased, were quite clear on these details." He again looked away, simply threw his hands up, and then turned back to Tharik, "Apparently the crew discovered a number of eggs on a world they had explored and brought them aboard. Oh, and don't worry Cap'n, I am sure the vessel is clean. We cleared the entire ship, deck by deck." The tiny Bill Boards hologram chuckled, "That one Mate, the grumpy bald fart, he shoved a shotgun in one demon's mouth and blew it's head clear off. Damndest thing I ever seen, he's got a few acid burns but he will be fine." Tharik nodded in approval and Bill went on. "Oh! You should have seen Nadejda! Clever bastard that one, got himself a mechanical loader and crushed one of the monsters underfoot! Savage lot these Corsairs!"
Tharik cheered attracting the attention of a number of clerks shuffling through the halls of the Senate House, "Huzzzzahh! Fine work my good man. So then it does appear the Imperial Corsairs have themselves a Fleet Carrier?"
Bill grinned broadly and winked, simultaneously pointing his index finger as if it were a handgun firing off a round, "Aye Cap'n, that we do, your plan is coming together nicely. I'll be back in the bubble with this behemoth in a few days, there's a few repairs to be made, but she will be space-worthy in short order."
Tharik smiled being quite pleased, "Fantastic news! I guess I'll be needing to carry on with the other component of this scheme then."
At that moment a raucous Corsair with a nom de guerre of Radge Gadgie came into view of the hologram waving an alien claw still dripping caustic blood. Bill quickly pushed him aside, "Good luck Cap'n, them politicians be right devious they are."
"Indeed. Fare thee well Bill and I will see you soon. Tharik out," Tharik closed the datalink, smirked and looked up. A secretary had emerged from the office and waved at Tharik to enter.
An homage to one of the best Sci-Fi’s ever made, the classic film: Aliens
