TRIANGULATING THE CARL SAGANHi Cmdrs,
Having arrived at TRA X-1, and finishing exploring it, it’s time to start moving around the Norma Arm again, heading roughly North East for now.
Imagine the Carrier is off to my left. What I’ve done is searched out a system that was 500 ltyrs from the Carriers current position AND about 500 for the Cutter to do, hence the triangulation. I found such a system and set the Carrier on its way there and then set off in the Cutter to intercept it at the target system, this was 22 jumps, as usual!
I took this image in a system. This was a planet I’d just mapped and I thought this was a nice angle for this shot . . .
This planet was billed as a very ordinary ROCKY BODY but just look at it. It seems to have polar regions overlapping oceans and land masses . . .
In another system I mapped this closest planet and its moon and moved the Cutter around until I was able to take this shot . . .
I’ve then carried on to within 7 jumps of the Carrier before finding a Tritium hotspot to mine. I left with 256 limpets but a couple of times tonight I’ve sailed too close to the suns refuelling and I’ve damaged my cargo hatch resulting in the loss of about 20 of the limpets. I’m not too worried about this as I usually end up throwing quite a few limpets out as I mine anyway.
I’ve logged off tonight having mined about 50 tons and I have about 200 limpets left so I’m already catching up on the limpets I’ve lost.
I’ve moved the Cutter to a safe spot in the Icy Ring and shut down all but essential systems so I can go and get some shut eye.
For some reason some of these stats have not updated tonight, it happens sometimes!

The Cutter is now 14,190 ltyrs away from Sol!
Distance to Beagle Point: 55,400 ltyrs
Once I meet the Carrier I think I’m going to check the Codex and see if there are any unusual sites I can head for.
