CMDR PAUSANIAS - THE SHIP OF THE MIND EXPEDITION - DAY 69

CRASHED NAV BEACON AND A VERY INTERESTING SYSTEM

Hi Cmdrs,

When landed on that moon last night I saw the actual planet I’d mined around. When I woke up today it had seemingly been replaced with the other moon that my moon was orbiting . . .

As I buggy’d around looking for some materials I noticed there was a metal object on my scanner, this far out this had to be investigated. It turned out to be a crashed Nav Beacon, this really shouldn’t be out here, there are no civilised systems for a considerable distance. I can only assume some passing scrap merchant has dumped it here.

I recalled the Cutter and set off for The Carl Sagan once again. Within a couple of jumps I found this interesting system with several very different types of planets. This was a ringed High Metal Content . . .

As I left the above planet in noticed this feature on the surface, it looks like a volcano similar to Mount Olympus on Mars back in the Sol system . . .

This one was a Gas Giant with Water Based Life, fish again no doubt.

Then there was this Lava Planet which I investigated . . .

A few more jumps on and I came across this spinning Neutron Star. A message zoomed off to the Codex as I arrived. I stayed away from it as I do not need to refuel on these type of stars.

I carried on to the Carrier and despite finding that interesting system I only handed in 1,500,000 of scan data. I offloaded the Tritium and there is now 700 tons out of 1000. I’ve made the changes to the Cutter taking out the SRV Bay and replacing it with another 3 Limpet Controller unit so I can now mine with 12 Limpets.

I set off again on the next 26 jumps and within about 4 jumps I found an Icy Ring with a Tritium hotspot. I’ve mined about 100 tons before shutting the ship down for the evening. The extra 3 limpets are making a huge difference speeding up the collection process, especially when I get very close to the rocks.

Total Carrier jump distance since 10th August: 23,000 ltyrs - (Personal note: 38 jumps on 9 Oct)
Total Ship jump so far: 42,149
Total planets Level 3 scanned: 16,429
Total exploration data: 398,500,000 credits
Total systems with my name on: 2852
The Cutter is now 14,777 ltyrs away from Sol!
Distance to Beagle Point: 54,634 ltyrs

The adventure continues . . .
