COOK'S MADE ME A CAKE! - 10 WEEKS OUTHi Cmdrs,
After finishing mining only 255 tons, I ran out of limpets at the very last minute, I set off on the 25 jumps to the Carrier. It wasn’t long before I found this Class 1 Gas Giant which I thought was worth checking out and it was. Here I can be seen approaching the planet across its rings.
As I left I flew over this gigantic storm raging on the planet. We used to think Jupiter was big and its Red Spot was impressive but we now know it’s just a strong breeze by comparison to other swirling storms on other gas giants in the Galaxy. This one, seen here, was huge.
Again leaving the planet I snapped this image of the banded clouds, some of them swirling within the bands, the ring system is also visible with the Galaxy as a backdrop.
The following image shows a High Metal Content planet I came across too with its clouds and red surface.
In another system I found this Ammonia World. As I flew over this I couldn’t help wondering if Thargoids live down there and if they do at what stage of development might they be at? Living in caves still, perhaps still evolving in the oceans? What if they were on the brink of space travel? I left, just in case!
Within the last few jumps to The Carl Sagan I found this High Metal Content planet which looked remarkably like an Earthlike so I investigated it further. This image is of my approach . . .
I decided to fly over the pole as it was heavily covered with snow and ice. By accident this image has the Andromeda Galaxy in it at the top left and our own top right.
I thought after the mining tonight there wouldn’t be much to enter in the log tonight but I was wrong.
I reached the Carrier and handed in a respectable 8,500,000 scan data and then went to the Mess Hall where Cook had baked another cake for me with SIX candles on to commemorate the 6 years since I bought my first Sidewinder, it was even in the shape of a Sidewinder. He’s a good chap. I got the crew together and we all had a piece. I had two pieces, it was made for me after all!
