CMDR PAUSANIAS - THE SHIP OF THE MIND EXPEDITION - DAY 73

21 Oct 2020Pausanias
TONIGHT - RINGS ABOUND  - A CLASS Y DWARF STAR WITH RINGS, TWO WATERWORLDS WITH RINGS, AND MORE

Hi Cmdrs,

It’s just happened this way but today I’ve come cross a few unusual ringed planets, and a SUN with rings!

After sending The Carl Sagan on ahead another 500 ltyrs I set off on the 26 jumps to chase after it.

The first anomaly was this one, not particularly odd visibly but look at its name, ABCDEF? Couldn’t somebody think of a name for it?

The next noteworthy one was this one, a planet with rings so thin that the Galactic background shone straight through them rendering them virtually invisible.

After flying on a bit further through more systems I found this Waterworld with several spiral storms occurring over its oceans.

With about 10 jumps still to go to reach the Carrier I found a system with TWO Ringed Waterworlds and a Ringed STAR! This is the ringed star, a Class Y Dwarf Star, presumably its planets never formed from the rocky rings, or maybe the rings are the remnants of a planet or two that have been destroyed sometime in the distant past?

I then flew over to the first of the two ringed Waterworlds . . .

And then the second . . .

Upon scanning these rings, all of them, messages were shot off to the Codex, there’s something in there worth knowing about but I don’t know what it is.

These two worlds looked interesting and were quite a way out hence the darkness, these were only Rocky Body’s but just look at the interesting coloured surfaces and their proximity to each other.

Finally, in the same system, was this Class 1 Gas Giant, with rings. This was in a quite dark area of the system due to it being so far out from its Sun. Again scanning the rings here sent a message off to the Codex.

Not surprisingly with all these rings about I found a Tritium hotspot tonight too and have mined 266 tons of the Carrier fuel which is safely in the cargo hold of the Cutter. I still have 8 jumps to the Carrier to do and I thought it would be good to call it a day right between the planet and the rings of the image above, the La Grange point, roughly.

Total Carrier jump distance since 10th August: 25,000 ltyrs - (Personal note: 46 jumps on 17 Oct)
Total Ship jump so far: 44,485
Total planets Level 3 scanned: 17,408
Total exploration data: 435,000,000 credits
Total systems with my name on: 2927
The Cutter is now 16,869 ltyrs away from Sol!
Distance to Beagle Point: 53,756 ltyrs

The adventure continues . . .
