SILICATE VAPOUR GAS VENTS FOUND CONFIRMING THEIR EXISTENCE

Hi Cmdrs,

I finished up mining the Tritium I wanted for The Carl Sagan and just as I reached 266 tons mined I found a rock I could blow up! So I did, even though I’d actually finished mining. I keep trying to photograph the exact point of the explosion but my timing is always off by a split second, this is my attempt today, too early . . .

I then set of on the 22 jumps To the Carrier.

On the way I found this interesting planet which turned out to be even more interesting than I first thought. Just look at the colours and surface detail in this image.

I mapped it and saw several Geological Signals down there, I flew down to Signal 1 to check it out and found Silicate Vapour Gas Vents, not many but enough. Here is the SRV surveying the field of vents.

Having Composition Scanned one of the vents a message shot off to the Codex. I had a look to see what registered. It seems someone has already found such vents, but in another system altogether, under the entry is my ‘Confirmed’ entry in the system I am in, not the one the previously found. There is a process of discovery and confirmation with the Codex but they do not have to be in the same location, any two types of find seem to do the job.

As I returned to the Cutter I took this image as I thought she looked resplendent in the sunshine, she’s a big ship, but elegant with it.

Just out of interest I checked out this Water Gas Giant flying close to the rings and taking this impressive image.

With 9 jumps still to go to The Carl Sagan I found this Water World and decided to call it day here. There were absolutely no surface features, just water. Even though Water Worlds are inherently made of water they seldom are completely covered in just water.

I’ve dropped into the lowest orbit I can for the night, powered the ship down and I’m off to bed now, good night all.

The adventure continues . . .
