WATER ICE FUMAROLES WITH BROWNIAN MOTION PARTICLESHi Cmdrs,
After recommencing the journey to The Carl Sagan today I came across very little of interest but I did scan a few more worthwhile planets. Upon reaching the Carrier I handed in a respectable 29,000,000 credits and also my 266 tons of Tritium which took the Carriers reserves to over 500 tons and the main storage facility is now completely replenished too.
I set up the next Carrier jump and left it behind in the system it was in. Another 25 jumps to it to do.
After a couple of jumps I found a system with icy rings and a couple of moons with Geological Signals on. I inspected the rings first and found a Tritium hotspot, well three in fact, in the rings of the same planet which had the Geological Signals on its moon, that was a big help. I decided to come back to the hotspot and mine it tomorrow as I thought it would be a good idea to sleep on the planet itself, so down I went.
Upon landing I found a Water Ice Fumarole field which I set about exploring. Here you can see the SRV facing the Cutter with a burning Water Ice Fumarole next to me. I’m not sure what’s making the gas yellow but I’m guessing it’s Sulphur.
This is another composition I shot showing the ringed planet above the horizon, the one I’ll be at tomorrow mining!
This was a vast field of fumaroles as shown in this image, you can just see the SRV and the size of the Cutter gives some idea of the area it covers.
On one occasion I was close up to one of the fumaroles spewing gas and noticed particles in the air, they were moving about in a way that I remembered from school when we learnt about something called Brownian Motion, particles in a vacuum still ‘bounce and float’ about, the movement is caused by atoms in the ‘air’ bombarding the particles. Watch this video to see the tiny particles movements.
Total Carrier jump distance since 10th August: 37,000 ltyrs - (Personal note: 69 jumps on 2 Nov)
Total Ship jump so far: 64,199
Total planets Level 3 scanned: 24,453
Total exploration data: 647,000,000 credits
Total systems with my name on: 3426
The Cutter is now 27,372 ltyrs away from Sol!
Distance to Beagle Point: 46,428 ltyrs
The adventure continues . . .
