CMDR PAUSANIAS - THE SHIP OF THE MIND EXPEDITION - DAY 97
14 Nov 2020Pausanias
TITLEHi Cmdrs,
I've done some serious Carrier jumping today but managed to get some worthwhile exploration in too.
The first thing I came across was this lovely looking Gas Giant, it wasn’t anything special as such, I just thought it’s markings were quite striking.
It was only 8 jumps to The Carl Sagan and I’m still 3,200 light years from EOCK BLUAE NEBULA. On this set of jumps I found these Silicate Vapour Fumaroles too.
I took this striking shot of the planet I’d just left, the one with the Silicate Vapour Fumaroles.
When I got to the Carrier I handed in just 1,000,000 in scan data and set the next Carrier/Asp jump set up, which again was 8 jumps. Amongst those jumps I found this amazing Ammonia World, in this image there is a raging storm over one of the land masses and also it shows one of the chocolate brown oceans which can be found on these planets.
Upon reaching the Carrier again I handed in another 1,000,000 exploration data and yet again it was an 8 jump set for the Asp. I found a few more objects worth some money this time and when I arrived at the Carrier I handed in 5,000,000 this time, and then, the recurring theme 8 jumps again.
During these 8 jumps I’ve crossed the frontier from the Norma Expanse to Trojan Belt and something odd happened. The first three systems I scanned in the Trojan Belt kept sending messages off to the Codex. As far as I could tell what was happening was that the Codex was registering these objects as being CONFIRMED. I don’t know why Cmdr Names do not appear on confirmed objects but it would be very helpful.
I carried on until I reached the system the Carrier was parked in. After scanning the whole system it was obvious there was something of interest on the first planet so I went there to investigate finding a field of Silicate Magma Lava Spouts. You can see the Asp in the background of this image.
This is another image of the area which includes the local Sun.
Amazingly I needed some Tungsten and I found what I needed amongst these Silicate Magma Lava Spouts, so that was an unexpected result.
I then flew to The Carl Sagan and handed in 2,500,000 for the last set of jump scanning.
Time for bed me thinks.
