CMDR PAUSANIAS - THE SHIP OF THE MIND EXPEDITION - DAY 102

O CLASS SYSTEMS FOUND, BUT I'M NOT THE FIRST IN THEM!Hi Cmdrs,
First off today, I've decided to drop recording the jump distance for the Carrier. It has become quite inaccurate, each time I jump The Carl Sagan I have added a whole 500ltyrs to its total travel distance but I have never jumped the full 500 of course, and sometimes its only jumped a couple of hundred light years but I've entered 500 to keep the maths simple. Today is a prime example, I've done some quite short jumps getting to my waypoints.
I left the ‘Onion’ field today and jumped 8 jumps to the Carrier handing in just 1,000,000 credits. I added 500 tons of Tritium to the Carriers fuel tank which leaves 21,500 in reserve.
The first O Class encounter I reached today had no landable planets in it so that means no Biological Signals either! Plus someone’s already been to the system even though my journey there was all unexplored systems all the way!
Having checked out the system I went over to the Carrier and handed in 2,500,000 credits this time. Here is the Asp on deck with the first O Class I’ve visited today, note the purple discolouration of the landing pads . . .
I searched the Galaxy Map in my direction of travel and found another O Class 1700ltyrs away, jumped the Carrier and set of after it, 8 jumps, when I reached it I handed in 4,500,000 credits.
As I was setting up the next jump I found another potential O Class so changed direction slightly to take it in. Upon reaching the Carrier the next time I handed in just 1,500,000 credits. I also transferred 500 more tons from stock into the fuel tank leaving 21,000 tons in stock.
It was only 4 jumps to this interim O Class so I left the Carrier in situ and jumped away.
As I arrived there someone else had been there before again and again there were no landable planets in the system therefore no Biological Signals. I took this image as I passed the Sun . . .
I then remotely jumped the Carrier passed me to the next waypoint which left me 5 jumps to do in the Asp. I reached it and handed in 2,500,000 credits.
It was then only 5 jumps to third O Class system. I thought I’d get those done quickly but on the first jump I came across a system with SEVEN planets that were worth mapping for their exploration data, three were 117,000 lights seconds out so by the time I’d mapped them all the day was getting on.
I decided to drop into a high orbit of this High Metal Content planet and pull up for the night. I don’t usually like just stopping in open space for the night but there were no planets in the vicinity to land on, so orbit it is.
See you tomorrow Cmdrs.
