CMDR PAUSANIAS - THE SHIP OF THE MIND EXPEDITION - DAY 120

ANOTHER EARTHLIKE AND TWO MORE BIOLOGICAL SIGNAL SITES

Hi Cmdrs,

Today started off with 138 jumps to the target system.

On the very first jump today I found another Earthlike, the seventh one! Here you can see the Asp transiting the planet. I flew around the dark side looking for signs of life, but just darkness.

Within a couple of jumps I found yet another Biological Signal on a planet and set off to investigate. This image was taken on the approach.

Despite orbiting the planet I couldn’t find a Biological Signal on the sunny side, they were all on the dark side. This is a closer image showing the unusual colouring on this body.

The site turned out to be a Crystalline Shards field again. This photo shows the shards, the SRV and dramatically the planets ring system arching over the horizon. There was also Silicate Vapour Fumaroles interspersed between the shards, however, these were very tall, thick ones, previous ones have not been this big, you can see one in the SRV’s lights.

Again these shards had hundreds of material pockets, see the radar in the SRV below. These all had Polonium in them, every one. Just look at the size of the fumaroles here too.

As I left the site I took this image to try and show the extent of the shard field but in the dark you can’t really take it all in.

After that excitement I reached The Carl Sagan again handing in 12,000,000 credits for my exploration data and whilst there I moved another 500 tons of Tritium over leaving 15,500 in the main hold.

Having shot off into The Black again is wasn’t long before I found another Biological Signal site! This one had Crystalline Shards again but with Ammonia Ice Fumaroles between them.

This field had numerous material shards which were all Tellurium, I couldn’t take them either, no more than I could the Polonium. I drove around for a while but then decided to get going again.

I reached the Carrier and handed in 9,500,000, then jumped off again and handed in 7,000,000 when I reached the Carrier for the last time today.

I’ll stop here tonight again. I’m now under 19,000 ltyrs from Beagle Point.

Total Ship jump distance so far: 99,970
Total planets Level 3 scanned: 33,808
Total exploration data: 1,016,500,000 credits
Total systems with my name on: 4024
My Ship is now 49,701 ltyrs away from Sol!
Distance to Beagle Point: 17,956 ltyrs

I have today surpassed 100,000 Level 3 scans on astronomical objects since becoming a Commander, the next target is 250,000!

On top of that I have made my first BILLION on this journey.
