CMDR PAUSANIAS - THE SHIP OF THE MIND EXPEDITION - DAY 129
16 Dec 2020Pausanias
ANOTHER EARTHLIKE & THREE BIOLOGICAL SIGNALS!Hi Cmdrs,
My new target system is 50 jumps distant, so I've set off . . .
Todays first oddity was this OVAL planet! It was very close to the main star which might explain its shape. I have deliberately left the reticule on this image to show how oval this planet is.
This was followed by a Ringed Water World . . .
I decided to checkout a Geological Signal and chose this Silicate Vapour Fumarole signal site, something I've seen many of.
Whilst here I found a relatively flat stretch of surface so had a play with speeding the SRV across the planet, this is what I shot . . .
and . . .
Notice the fumaroles and rings in the background.
I then reached The Carl Sagan and handed in 2,500,000 credits for those few jumps.
Carrying on I found a Biological Signal site on a small planet with lots of mountains, just look at this approach. This was 142,000 light seconds out! The Biological numbered just ONE, there was also 9 Geological sites but I didn't bother with those, I thought a single Biological site would yield something special, but it didn't!
More Crystalline Shards! The field was huge again and very imposing, the SRV is in this image but you can hardly see it.
I drove around for a while but found nothing but Antimony, so I left taking this image of the mountains as I left silhouetted against the Gas Giant it was orbiting.
I then found my tenth Earthlike!
At the Carrier I handed in a respectable 20,000,000 credits before shooting off again.
I then found Biological Signals 2 and 3 in the same system but they were 340,000 light seconds out from the entry point, but, as you, off I went to see, distance doesn’t phase me.
The first one was a Carbon Dioxide Ice Fumarole site which I have found many times already, but I still took this image . . .
The second was another Crystalline Shard field.
From here it was just one jump to The Carl Sagan system so I made that jump and handed in 15,500,000 credits and at the same time transferred another 500 tons of Tritium over leaving 13,000, according to my calculations that’s 46,000 light years worth of jumping still!
See you tomorrow Cmdrs . . .
Total Ship jump distance so far: 112,527 ltyrs
