CMDR PAUSANIAS - THE SHIP OF THE MIND EXPEDITION - DAY 132 - ARRIVAL DAY!

BEAGLE POINT AND BEYOND . . .Hi Cmdrs,
When I started today I just needed 31 jumps to reach BEAGLE POINT which I have done!
There wasn't a great deal of anything interesting on the route but I admit I did get a bit inpatient to get there, but, if there was something worth mapping it still got mapped. I kept jumping The Carl Sagan on ahead and even sent it to Beagle Point before I got there. My wing mate Shen was already there waiting for it.
This is the penultimate jump before reaching this monumental goal . . .
This is the site that greeted me when I arrived. The Carl Sagan at Beagle Point with the entire Galaxy as a backdrop. I wonder what Carl himself would have to say, if he were still alive, about seeing such a sight from this vantage point in our Galaxy?
I handed in another 8,500,000 credits for the data I had amassed over the past 31 jumps and met up with Shen again.
We had already decided to jump the Carrier beyond Beagle Point to THE most distant system in our Galaxy OEVASY SG-Y D0, you can only get there with a Carrier as it's so distant there isn't a ship in the Galaxy with enough jump range. In fact it was going to take two Carrier jumps to reach it.
We set off on the first leg. I had a quick look around the system whilst we were waiting for the Carriers engines to cool down and then programmed the second, final jump.
Once in OEVASY SG-Y D0 we had a quick look around and then decided to go to the most distant MOON in the system OEVASY SG-Y D0 8F, we jumped the Carrier there rather than flying the 132,000 light seconds and both Shen and myself invited other Squadron members over as Crew to see the sights.
Once the excitement had passed and it was back to just Shen and myself we landed on the said Moon, met up, and I took this image. Two ships, two SRV's on the most remote Moon in our Galaxy with the Galaxy in the background as a backdrop . . .
After Shen had left I took another couple of images from this far off distant Satellite of the most distant planet. This first one is mainly of the Galaxy from here again . . .
And this one is to show how few stars there are out here!
There really is hardly any stars out here. You can see the Andromeda Galaxy and a couple of other Galaxies, Nebulas and looking in certain directions the odd star, but it's very dark skies other than those objects.
Once I'd had a drive around on the moon a little more I decided to map the whole system. I'll probably never come here again after all. During all the mapping I came across this little gem of a planet with Geological Signals on, OEVASY SG-Y D0 B1 . . .
I picked one of the Geologicals and went down finding SULPHUR DIOXIDE GAS VENTS, now I have found these many times before on the journey but at least this was a first find in this region of the Galaxy. I didn't actually land, I took this phot whilst hovering above the field.
I finished mapping the whole system and went back to the Carrier handing in 2,000,000 for the distant system.
I now need to get the Carrier back! I set up the first jump to another random system between my current position and Beagle Point, it was about 230 light years away. I scanned it upon arrival but there were just 4 suns in it, no planets so I set the final jump back to Beagle Point before turning in for the night, some 370 light years.
I'll wake up tomorrow back at Beagle Point which actually still needs checking out as we just went straight to OEVASY SG-Y D0. At least Shen can now get back to the Bubble or wherever he wants to go next as he would have been stranded out there had I not bought the Carrier back.
I'm glad I called my Carrier THE CARL SAGAN and I'm glad I've done this journey, it won't be the last I'm sure and I've still got a journey to do back, not sure which way to go next, I have 11,072 Tritium left which is enough to do 39,000 light years. I may go to Colonia with it, I'll decide tomorrow.
Look what I've got today . . .
And I'm very close to the 1 million light year badge too!
