CMDR PAUSANIAS - THE SHIP OF THE MIND EXPEDITION - DAY 151

07 Jan 2021Pausanias
MANY BLACK HOLES AND WOLF RAYETS HAVE BEEN SCANNED TODAY

Hi Cmdrs,

Yesterday I shot through a couple of systems that had objects worth mapping but due to the urgency of getting to the Carrier for Shen and Clyde I just ‘pinged’ them to sort later.

Well I’ve done them today, I went back to the first one which was also a Neutron Star, mapped the necessary planets and then went to the second one I’d pinged. By the time I returned to the Carrier I had 9,000,000 credits of data, so for the time it took me it was well worth it.

This image is one of the Water Worlds I mapped. Notice the Galaxy sprawling across the background and the Nebula casting a dark splodge over it. That isn’t a polar ice cap on the planet, it’s the sun shining on it.

After that I decided to check to see if there were any Wolf Rayet’s or Black Hole’s I could put my name on. Turns out the sector I’m in had well ver 50!

In the Galaxy Map I pinged many of the systems fitting the criteria and then set off methodically going around them. After discovering at least 12 of them all pre-found, and by the same Commander, I decided to stop wasting my time in this sector and get back to The Carl Sagan and continue mining Tritium. I have to say that if I’d found just one of each of these I’d have left the rest for someone else, but, this Commander seems to have done the whole lot, hmmmmm.

One of the Wolf Rayet systems had this binary set up with an O Class star very close. So close that I overheated quite badly between the two as I dropped in. It took me a while to get to safety.

This was another image I took at a Black Hole system, the curvature caused by the Black Hole couldn’t be more obvious!

Upon going back to the Carrier I handed in 25,500,000 credits from all the jumping around I’d done.

We, Shen and myself, then ended up both mining in a system we’d found with a Tritium hotspot. Once we had both filled up a bit we went back to the Carrier and Shen handed in about 72 tons and I handed in 180 tons plus 2,500,000 credits worth of exploration data.

We’ve then moved the Carrier a few more times towards the target system. Eventually I got to the penultimate system and found an icy ring round a planet in a system that has a Neutron Star for it’s main star.

I won’t bother going to the target system now, tomorrow I’ll mine here and then set a waypoint between here and Colonia and we’re going to go for it!

Colonia is just under 16,000 light years from where we are, let’s see how fast we can get back now!

Total Ship jump distance so far: 198,720 ltyrs
Total planets Level 3 scanned: 46,162
Total exploration data: 2,053,057,521 credits
Total systems with my name on: 5148
My Ship is now 36,042 ltyrs away from Sol
We are now 15,823 ltyrs away from Colonia
