The war is cooling down. But will it last?

No, it won't. I'll say that right now. There are four systems in Invasion state. Thirty-four are in Recovery. Forty are in Alert, which is far lower than in the past. It may seem like we're pushing the bugs back, but we mustn't have that kind of hubris. Something is brewing on the horizon, and it'll change soon. We still don't know much about the Maelstroms. For all we know, the last four months have been a push to test our resiliency. If that's the case, then the pullback is a lot more like the receding of water before a tsunami than it is a defeat. This isn't why I've been idle for the last month or so, and it isn't why I'm leaving the Bubble with Nicole for a while. The fact of the matter is, we've just been enjoying each other's company, making new friends on Ohm City, getting a taste of what life will be like when we eventually do retire. But she's got a little bit of cabin fever, so like she said in her last entry, I'm going to take her and the Morningstar crew down below the galactic plane by a few hundred light years to see if we can get some first-time organic discoveries. Plus, Edward's girlfriend Priyanka is joining us for a while. They haven't seen each other in person in a couple years, so I think it'll be good for them both.Our current goal is for Nicole to be a billionaire by our anniversary in July, but I'm pushing for Explorer Elite and I want to push as far as I can toward Exobiologist Elite. I'm going to let her have most of the discoveries, but I still want some for myself. So we're going to alternate our roles. Some days it'll be my ship and my first footfalls; some days it'll be hers and I'll take the passenger role for once. That'll be an interesting switch. I'll make sure to keep you all updated. Author's note (minor spoilers for Update 15 content, but we've all seen it by now, haven't we?)
Real life has been taking up a ton of my time recently. I've been gaming, but it's been almost entirely Resident Evil 4, VRChat, and Synth Riders. My plan is to move both my accounts (yes, I'm Nicole as well) over to the Morningstar and make a jump today, but I don't think I'll get to play much until the 28th. And even then, Elite will have to compete with Star Wars Jedi: Survivor for my time. I'm excited for what Update 15 will bring, but Ember and Nicole are both too distracted with their lives to have seen the teaser from Frameshift Live yesterday. I'm glad I tuned in for the last 30 minutes or so.
I want to have my exploration stuff done by Update 15's release, but I think that'll be a good narrative point to bring us back to the Bubble.
